I’m surprised at how physical the game is. Was expecting players to hold back

Not true. I gave a reason in an earlier post. You may think it is not a great reason, but ...

I hadn’t seen what you commented until now. Fair enough reason, but it hasn’t got anything to do with injuries.

I got excited…. But then was like Koz don’t get rubbed out from an origin match haha

Some classic Max ruck craft that quarter. Doesn’t seem like the new no bounce rule has affected his influence

Kozzy’s going to get suspended.

Wouldn’t be a start to the season without him being suspended. Nothing new.

Yeah was rusty in the first but looked much better in the second.

Garry Lyon looks like he’s been on a week long bender!! 😵‍💫😳

Understatement. Looks like he was lost on Castaway Island with Wilson.

There was a stretch of some smart ruck work but he has spent more time falling to the ground and/or looking for a free than he has had decent impact on this game.

Rivers has been one of WA’s best in the backline, created some run. Clark is the one that has butchered the ball.

Seeing Jesse kicking sausage rolls will never not make me happy.

So glad to see him doing well.

Just realized how few players I recognise. Guess I must be watching a lot less footy these days.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
