Yeah, that's been talked about a bit on here. Also the fact that Scarlett has a little reputation for being a bit difficult to work with.

He’s been at Geelong for 17 years. Might feel like it’s time for a new challenge.

Would be an unbelievable get.

This is a great read on him;

Brilliant article. Thanks mate. Makes me very excited if Lappin is indeed a chance to be at the MFC.

Under Goody's empire, the Dees don't do development , only career killing. Still disappointed that Sestan and Pup were delisted. However I still think Sestan will get rookied by another club.

Not very cool at all.

Matt Scarlett co-coached Sth Barwon (Geelong Football League) in 2014-15. My mate was playing coach of an opposition club at the time. He said that there were a number of players that left Sth Barwon for the reason you mention.

The minute he was appointed with the MFC job, he became a Melbourne man. The guy was so clearly elated and proud to have won the job. And then he goes back to enemy territory.

It’s just a bit weird.

You really think we sent Kingy back!

I'm really looking forward to Kingy taking over, freshening up the place, new assistants, new voices.

But I have been here before. Just remember King will not get a kick, mark, handpass, goal, tapout for the MFC. Need new playing talent.

Aside from the 17 premiership players developed by Goodwin (23-4 trade ins and Gawn and T Mc). Sestan won't be anywhere near an afl list unless he gets himself super fit and given there was never any sign of that happening I'd be surprised if it does now.

I brought this same topic up last year.

It's like Tanner has vanished into thin air without a trace, not a word whispered in disgust on the air waves.

The same thing has happened with the vile verbal abuse of women from Scott and Smith.

Just a token mention from the media, if it was and interstate club or smaller Vic club they would have taken them apart.

To many prominent people in potlsitions of power exist for the likes of Geel and Coll to ever be exposed and talk back lines to open on these diabolical happenings.

Look what they did to Clarry the aholes.

Not as good a name as Peter the Great, and marginally worse than Ivan the Terrible.

Bummer. That’s a real shame. He would have been a phenomenal addition to the footy department.

Goddamn Geelong. I hate them with every fiber of my being.

Won't happen. Lives on the Surfcoast and has four teenagers. The boys are budding footballers as I've mentioned. 13 and 14 yo and 191cm and 193cm. The elder won the Geelong league div 1 B&F.

Matt is heavily involved, coaching at junior level. I doubt he'd be travelling from Torquay to Casey up to twice a week.

Stupid irrelevant question unless you want to keep on harping about this every time we lose or fail. Get over it. All the coaches in the running had applied at least once for seniors AFL roles previously. Think Suns was one and possibly Eagles but he may have not put his hat into that ring.

While I would have been quite happy for Bucks to have succeeded I think this decision is one where we will see a greater change within the Club in it’s approach and more importantly in game day planning.

Chances were that Bucks game style IMO may not have been as modern as one if the very recent assistants. But he would have balanced that out with his undoubted knowledge and reputation in the recruiting area.

Now for the Assistants!!

BTW the approximate 25/30% who just said ā€œ Don’t want Buckleyā€ were typical MFC types with no reason being given. Not even a ā€œ too ….ā€ To add. ie the same who

Don’t like prime time night games ( too late getting home)

Don’t like Sunday 3.15 pm matches. ( too late for work or school on Monday)

Want to clear ALL players ( or about 90%) after 2 seasons whether trade draft or any other method of recruiting) PS were you one of the [censored] who wanted Trac offered for sale before his breakout year in 2020? Yes you !! About 25% of D/L Anders were in that mould.

We are the most impatient group of supporters around. Whilst I favoured strongly for Goody to be released ahead of his contract and to change our game plan to a more positive approach he still was a premiership Coach and there are only so many in the AFL.

Many D/Landers will put King on Buckley watch if he coaches the Devils ( if he he fails with us) and it will be a Green legacy no doubt. ( Guerra and Smithy will escape as they have not had 12. Mths of leading the Club like Brad. ) They have about 2 or 3 years ( possibly) under the Demonland time scale. Brad has 1 or 2 or none years depending upon your opinion on his previous 12months in the Interim Chair.

Incidentally he has 3 or 4 like the rest IMO to leave his mark!

Good luck Kingy a Red ( and Blue ) letter Day for you and approx. 300,000 other Demon hopefuls ( rusted or not) as we start our journey from Blank or a clear pattern again.

Get your tickets folks we don’t know what sort of a ride but don’t miss out.

Or is it Too late, too cold, too wet, to many train/ bus interceptions, too little trying to win or just TOO LAZY to get your Demon spirit into gear, or are you going to sit on the fence with or without an opinion.

Don’t too this or. Too that JUST DO !!! Please.

Stupid irrelevant post. I was just wondering, wow, look into things too much and randomly abuse people for no reason? you must have a very [censored] life.

Well it is an irrelevant question. No need to find out that at all. A complete waste of time.

Turner, Bowey, Rivers, McVee, Petty, Bedford, Jordan were all average picks all turned out to be diamonds in the rough, our high end picks of recent times have all been strong (a watch on JVR) the only black mark would be our pick ups from others clubs post '21, has been ordinary, but Goody's career killing empire, give it a rest. Even discards like Oscar, Jayden and James get a gig, granted we have issues with the game plan, but so much else has been on point.

How was Bowey an average pick when he was picked up as a first rounder?

fair call I guess, he was early 2nd round. my point stands, young blokes have done just fine with us, it's the retreads that are the challenge. it was the career killing comment that got up my nose.

Some new but also a lot more need to be reinvigorated and hopefully a new dynamic coach will help with that.

A new belief that we can score more than the opposition rather than that they can be held to less. I realise that both sides of the equation are equally important but it has seemed for a while that scoring has had less emphasis than defending.

Development is one thing but have a look at the teams that continually compete - Geelong, Collingwood, Hawthorn - they generally have over half of their players originating at other clubs. They trade for need. Its a gaping hole in melbourne's list management.

We are terrible at getting experienced players to our club. I feel if we are to compete each year at the top level its this area we need to fix. There are some past successes with Langdon, Melksham, Hibberd, May and Lever but more recent times the cupboard has been largely bare.

Gotta love a bit of revisionism. Liberals were probably about to be voted out yet for no reason they guaranteed payment for a road Labor were saying they were going to cancel. Was this Liberal incompetence or corruption? Funny how no one will entertain them, for what? 11 years now?

(And, no, I don't particularly want politics on a football page)

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast.Ā In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.Ā
