Maybe Roos.

Dogs probably still a chance.

If Silvagni goes to the Dogs, even the Pies might have a nibble, with Howe now suspect and Moore needing help.

If not he plays his last year with us.

That's if he gets on the park Mr. Leg. In the last 2 years he has played a hand full of games. Seems to be having a lot of injuries to his feet. Next year I would be surprised if he got 10 games. In fact very surprised. That being the case now is the time to off load him while he has a small amount of currency left. Of course it is all speculation. He might be very happy getting paid a lot of money for a small number of games.

He played 16 this year and suspended for 3 though concussed for 1 of those, so not like he doesn’t play most games.

But 34 before next season and won’t kill our chances if he leaves.

Whatever he was a big part in our flag and that should never be forgotten.

Hypothetical...

No takers... or deals baulked.. etc..

May remains..

How does that play out as a schism seems to be/been developing.

Tbh.. there are elements of May I like... some... not so much.

Does time simply get called ?? 🤔

They won’t call time on May.

It will be trade or stay final year.

The best defender I've seen at Melbourne in my time and one of the most influential on-field players. Has single-handedly won matches for us with almost superhuman efforts.

With that said, there a bit of Akermanis about him; in that success covers up a lot of of problems. When the success dries up, people's tolerance of off field issues wears very thin, very quickly.

I would be happy with the players mentioned for our future

B - McVee, Petty, McDonald

HB - Turner, Derksen, Bowey

Low hanging fruit. Also, seems like a pretty casual address; sitting at the back of the room speaking to the backs of the players. If this is what the ‘media’ are reporting on these days, then God [censored] help them.

agree

Hit the one year extension this season, contracted for 2026.

Why keep mentioning Derkson, If he was such a wonderful player he would be getting games at his own club.

I'd rather we prioritise Jed Adams, who looks to me, to have decent 1v1 capabilities, a nice kick and a good ability to read the play.

Sorry I was referring to Lever.

Dogs with zero interest in May according to Sammy Edmund

I wouldn't say no to paying 25% of his salary if that got them interested

Surely the one year extension, the last of his career, wouldn't be on big bucks would it?

You would not think so but it would still be $450-600k is my guess

May will only get traded out if the return is too good to ignore. If its an early second rounder from the Dogs, North (Wonder if Filth or Dons would need a 1-2 year loan for young guys to develop in that time-span) then in my eyes it'll be a thank you for your service and goodbye.

Can't see any team paying up a second rounder for a 33 year old who was already slowing down this year.

Thats why I said only if the return is too good to ignore. I highly doubt we would get a second back in return, which is why i reckon he stays.

May is one of the few players on our list who has won games or turned games completely 100% off his own bat.

Whether his criticism and frustration is unwarranted at times, that is the best and truest form of leadership from a football perspective.

There seems no upside here. At 34 we will probably get almost nothing in return.

The trouble with our defense is that we have too many that are not physical. May and to a lesser extent TMac Salem and Turner engage with their opponents whereas McVee Howes Bowey and Adams are a lot softer. Lever is somewhere between the 2. I've left out Rivers as he spends more time midfield. We never replaced Hibberd in that role and AMW who is also physical was out for the year. When May is firing he plays well, but you can hardly blame him for being careful after all his suspensions. Age is now catching him and struggles against fast leading forwards like Gunston. He still has the year on his contract so I am sure he will continue on and unless we find a like for like, will probably play most games. Sestan has the body to be physical so will be interesting to see if they keep him on.

He has a toe injury and is out for the season.

It was foolish to give him another year. He was solid this season, not great and exposed for speed. If the club wanted him, they could've lowballed based on his injuries and suspension. If another club wanted him then so be it. They take the risk. He won't be worth much in a trade and, unfortunately, I believe he'll see his great career at Casey.

Poor communication from Gawn, he should have stood up and addressed the team from the front of the group, demanded their attention.

May like Kozi play their best footy hot and nasty.

Both have mellowed after suspensions.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
