You nailed it, Joeboy.

Sadly, that summary would make a depressing read for our incoming coach.

We must live in hope.

Only a handful I agree with there Joeboy

but everyone is welcome to their opinion

Optimistic if you ask me, could easily delist twenty players, contracts and lack of picks are saving them.

Um yeah legacy of Goodwin, Lamb and Taylor

Just aking who and how rate different?

Cheers

I agree with Joeboy's assessment, specifically that Bowey was the only player on our list last year who progressed. That's a sad indictment of our coaching staff.

Plural you say?

Turner, Langford.

I'll give a few -

Salem - reliable but slow - Composed and skilled

Windsor - cruelled by injuries - second year blues

Viney - grunt without skills - Our heart beat

Lever - probably lost passion - Injuries ruined season (he is one of our most passionate)

Turner - excellent first half - break out season

Melksham - some impressive performances - Our best fwd most weeks

Lindsay - needs major preseason - Class and composure

Howes - Casey form unreplicated - Showed he has AFL qualities

Rivers - occasionally displayed promise - Regained form of previous years

Adam’s - didn’t seal opportunities - Only played one game - did well

Fullerton - never nailed opportunities - Not AFL quality

Petty - out of position - Showed he is a fwd late in the year

Pickett - outstanding first half - AA quality year

Chandler - very inauspicious year - Solid contributor

May - run his course possibly reinvent other end

van Rooyen - failed to progress needs someone to teach him better craft.

Salem - reliable but slow needs to re-find the danger in his game. Too many 'safety' disposals. Great for stats... useless otherwise.

McVee - rarely displayed advancement Like waiting for a bus.... and we still wait.

Petracca - definitely lost edge. At sixes and sevens. Is he frustrated with his team mates, the game style or just himself. Needs to break out of his funk... or move on.

Windsor - cruelled by injuries Look forward to 26 for him after a good preseason. Let him have more time in guts

Viney - grunt without skills hmmm.. what to do with Jack ?? I really don't know. Maybe not suited to what our game might morph to. He tags well though 💁‍♂️

Lever - probably lost passion Can't seem to stay on park... seems a yard off pace... lost that edge. Be very handy if regained it. Smart player, must be thinking hard and long about next chapter. Maybe not with us.

Spargo - another without luck might be looking over shoulder or elsewhere.

Turner - excellent first half Found his rhythm. Next year can build.

Gawn - our only elite An amazing follower, and leadership, just has me perplexed who he's hitting it to half the time... but hey, carry on. Legend

Tholstrup - a serious underperformer bit of a false start. Needs to knuckle down and concentrate. 26 might be marvellous

Oliver - rediscovered form late just keep going... getting there. Likely still in Red &Blue next year. Let's see

Billings - only Casey standard Cheers, auf weidersehn .. good luck

Langdon - often seemed distracted Forget the Duck, back to fillet steak good footy for you. Just get on with it Ed 😉

Laurie - no coach’s favourite No, not at all. Perhaps another club will favour him.

Bowey - came of age Found his confidence again

Melksham - some impressive performances Now Milky ..please cut out the silly set shots... remember the rules ... and please go round again in 26

Langford - impressive and consistent "kid can play" got a keeper here. "Charlie one day !!"

Lindsay - needs major preseason Looking forward to a fitter player here. Certainly has a bit of X about him. Good footy brain.

Jefferson - rarely excited supporters Oh well..... lets see if another preseason helps. Will need to

Howes - Casey form unreplicated not quite

Rivers - occasionally displayed promise needs to finish off good work. C+ Can do better. Hope he does.

McDonald - deserves another year Stoic

Adam’s - didn’t seal opportunities Keep at it lad, perhaps more opportunities in 26

Hore - injuries stymied progression bugger

Sharp - rarely justified selection blunt

Fritsch - excellent second half Jeckyl and Hyde .. stop hiding lad ...get on with it.

Sparrow - continued just plodding not a list clogger, just a filler

Fullerton - never nailed opportunities not sure why on list, ours anyway

Petty - out of position is ok, would entertain trade.

Pickett - outstanding first half Bottle blood, clone

Chandler - very inauspicious year meh

Johnson - rough but tried yeah...this.. like his monger though

Henderson - very few tricks see Fullerton

Culley - showed some promise one to watch.

Turner early in the season but tapered off imo.

Langford not on our list last year.

Hate to disappoint you pf but that version is not correct, for instance the following players showed improvement -

Max +10%, Clarry +23%, Salo +13%

Bowey +36%, Kozzie +36%, Chin +31%

Disco +93%, Fritsch +41%, Petty +13%

Riv, JV, Ed, May = 2025

Tracc -15% on 2025, Judd -9%

Langford ️, Lindsay, Windsor and Culley have shown their able, whilst Kolt, Howes, Adams, JvR and Jeffo will all improve with another tough, hard preseason.

Milkshake, TMac deserve a contract and Rick if he can get his body right is excellent.

To my mind the stats do not support your statement regarding Goody, TJ and Lamb.

Will all these star performers, why did we drop from 11 to 7 wins?

The reality is that the majority of our list went backwards significantly. Bowey and Turner are the only players I'd argue have materially improved.

Joeboy is spot on with the vast majority of that analysis.

Its more than 3 words, But only 4 Players have averaged 20+ disposals and 2 goals a game this century

Brad Johnson (2002 - Games 22)
Nathan Brown (2005) - Games 10)
Stevie Johnson (2008 - Games 25)
Stevie Johnson (2025 - Games 17)

Kozzie finished just short of this with an average of 19.6 Disposals and 2 goals a game from 19 games.

Just think 🤔 .. if he had only been still on the ground .. at times... in particular matches.. 🤔🙄

Double down on this, recruiting of Henderson, Billings, Johnson, Mc Adam, all terrible, contract extensions to Viney, Laurie, just not called for!

One opportunity only, under heavy fire, and far from disgraced.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
