Time to put the skipper on Ice for the rest of the year... Bell is out and Green would be doubtful, Wheatley maybe playing for his future, but is clearly favouring his shoulder. Let's hope that the younger guys take their chances this weekend for Sandy.

Agreed.

Neita to wait until next year for his 300th and hopefully get a win, because the way we're going, we'll get spanked and Neita deserves a win!

Belly, my poor Belly... any word on just how bad it is? Looked pretty nasty, and knowing our luck this year, it probably is.

What's wrong with Green?

Out: Neita, Bell, Brown, Wheatley, Ward/Bizzell, Green (if injured)

In: Dunn, Whelan (if fit), CJ, Buckley, Frawley, Miller

How many bloody injuries are we going to get this year? It's ridiculous.

At the risk of going too far, I wouldn't mind seeing Miller come back into the side and play at CHB for the remainder of the year. If it fails, he is gone, if it works then why not persist. He, Rivers and Carroll wouldn't be bad down there. In all honesty, we need SOMEONE down there. He sure as hell isn't a forward!

Neitz, Bell, Green and possibly Robbo and Wheatley could all miss next week. Could be up to 7 players in the mix, although I think Dunn, Whelan, C Johnson and Miller deserve first crack next week.

I think Sandy have a bye this week, we have to play Buckley, CJ, Frawley next week. All players that need surgury get it over the next month and be ready to start preseason in October.

To the following players thanks for your service but its time to go

Bizz, Brown, Ward

I understand Ward isn't highly rated on here, but his form has been okay and he's one of the few guys with pace.

What has Wheatley done to deserve to be dropped

Played 4 decent games in a row and can actually hit a team-mate.

Also still young so not in the Ward/Brown lets make way for youngsters.

I beleive he is clearly in our best 22 and will be an important player next year and beyond

Agreed.........Wheatley has been very good since coming back into the team, and shouldn't be dropped on form!

I'm really excited to see Wheatley back in the mix following injuries and some poor form. He's been good since return. Any time he gets the ball I'm pleased because WITH WHEATLEY YOU CAN BE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT HE WON'T [censored]-FART AROUND ON THE HALF-BACK LINE.

He is, in that respect, a cure for one of our Ills.

I also still love him for beating the little bastard Matera after Matera had kicked four goals in the first quarter with Whelan on him.

Good player, Wheatley. I had him on the list of possible 'outs' at the end of the season, but I'm very happy that he's back and performing.

Just in case it wasn't clear, I was quoting Jaded.

I agree with your comments re: Wheatley.

its because he is terrible at hitting the target and usually turns it over, his decision making is average as well and the guy is what 29-30?

Our season is shot with little to play for.

Its time to rest those players who are injured and necessary for our future and bring them back ready for 2008.

I would bring up Miller, Warnock, Chris Johnson, Whelan and Ferguson and lets see what they can do. Play Miller back, play Ferguson forward. I'd even bring Jamar back to get a clear perspective of whether we keep he or PJ. IMO atm, PJ is in front

Bring Frawley back and give him game time. Buckley needs to be brought in.

Lets see if they offer us anything before we cut them.

FWIW if Ward, Bizzell and Brown are to be cut at year end then start phasing them out over the next couple of weeks subject to injuries.

I agree what’s with all the Ward bagging...

His been one of our best all year and still has lots of service still left in him.

We carry on about giving CJ the chance to play and replacing Ward but the simple fact is CJ isn’t performing at VFL level consistently to warrant a spot...

I’m all for giving the kids a game but they have to warrant it.. Bizz is also been solid and should earn himself a new one year deal... Should never had been dropped years ago. A cool head in our kamikaze defence is needed....

Basically if your not in the team now and are over 24 you should not get another chance with the exception of Whelan and maybe Yze/Holland...

Time to move on Browney, Russian, Fergo, Warnock and Pickett. Thank you for your service.

On the flipside, Ward's disposal is poor and at times he seems to play too loose.

Warnock's not that old and I feel we should keep him for another year (eg. get rid of other guys first ;)).

We may be forced to keep Jamar due to our poor ruck stocks and failure to recruit or rookie any last year.

Where did that come from?

MFC injury list is still out of date.

Ha... Ha... Ha :unsure::(

Look at that list, what a joke!

Neita has a hamstring injury now as well, does he?

Yze, Bartram and 122 (that's Rivers for those who haven't figured it out) are done for this season.

I've had enough of 2007. Send everyone into surgery, wrap them in cotton wool, and start again in October.

And without knowing anything about physiology or sports science, I dare suggest that we need to look at the fact that in Bodan's first season at the club, we've had more injuries than I can remember.

Probably not his fault, but we can't rule it out. Especially given we'll review the entire football department in the next few months.

who knows....could have been far worse without Bodan ?? lol. its not cut and dried is it.

Any which way it hasnt been a good year.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
