Looks like he was trying to hit it to Viney. Terrible idea to be honest.

Just Happens to often

Melksham was horrendous those last 5 minutes. He looked like a deer in headlights.

Our new coach, whoever it maybe, will have plenty to work with!

Yet another loss by a goal or less.

The rest of the competition knows they're a chance against Melbourne no matter how far behind they are at 3/4 time.

Just apply pressure...

Some good things in this game but the team definitely needs to recalibrate this off season.

Good game save for some frustrating moments. Lots of players slipping from both sides.

Can't say I love our forward line set with our talls. We seem to spend about half of each quarter with one of Petty, Gawn or JvR on the bench and as a result we have a single key target. Petty gets up the wings and we are looking at Fritsch and Melksham to be our aerial targets. They do this well for mid-size players, but I think we would make our lives so much easier if we had two keys in the forward line for most of the game.

Great game of footy.

Cant help but think it feels like one of those honourable losses from the dark days though.

I thought Langford was beaten by Baker of all people on the wing but never gave up. Great goal and assists. Gunna be a champ.

I can't believe people are ripping into Viney when Disco gave up 3 goals through brain dead decisions. His effort on the last Naughton goal was as bad as anything we've seen this season.

His 2nd half was great. It's good Chaplin threw him forward to get more in the game

Not sure is recalibrate, we need to use ball better, cant do that with older players.

If u cant handball or kick, doesn't matter how many times you get it.

Turnovers kill you in AFL these days.

Careful...but he shouldnt try and mark every contest, punch it. And yes he looked like a dill.

That handball he did in the past few moments was horrendous. Butchered it

If May doesn’t get suspended for his inability to vanish into thin air, we win that.

A valiant effort with a makeshift defense.

Really great signs from Windsor Rivers and Judd

Love to see a new look midfield next year. Viney and Trac need to be redistributed to other roles.

Couldn't mark to save his life. Feels like had he been cleaner/effective we would have a chance in those dying minutes.

come on. The post got in the way of him getting to 0-ten.

Great effort and good signs by the team. But someone has to say something to Max about centre hit outs. Did we win more than one clearance? Actually his hit outs almost anywhereon the ground are almost never to our advantage.

May is not our future.

Love Tmac , apart from him id love us to stick with today's group and get games as a unit

Albeit gutted not to get the win, personally really pleased with the effort today.

Shackles certainly came off. I haven’t seen us burst from stoppage with speed in a long time and our ball movement looked electric at times, yes we had some poor turnovers but it’s risky trying to go fast.

Some great efforts from our kids, culley looks like a gem, harves continues to impress.

We exposed the dogs for what they are, a team that is simply making up the numbers.

That last center bounce sums up my frustration.

Best ruck in a generation, supposedly

But he hits it to space and no Melbourne player in sight.

Be nice to know how so many times max gets hit out, but goes to opposition ???

A bloody LOT!

Does our backline’s performance today, particularly the talls, demonstrate that maybe Lever and May could be trade bait.

We just need to get some more games into Adams and Howes and pickup a lock down small backman.

I don’t disagree but it’s a hard task to play such a good tall forward duo with such inexperience.

Defense needs experience. Tmac was brilliant on Darcy but to expect Adams to go with Naughton was really a baptism of fire.

Plenty of positives and plenty of negatives. I'm glad to see that people here are looking at the upside though.

I think we saw today that the gamplan that Goodwin was trying so hard to fix in was starting to bear fruit. Yes it took far too long but to see it in full effect against quality opposition who likes to move the ball themselves. The hard yards were put in place by Goody and if we now succeed with a style like this we will have him to thank for kicking it off.

It's strange to feel disappointed AND proud after a game. Loved the shuffling of players into different positions, loved our heart and intent, loved the wrestle in the last quarter, loved the high moments of great play, HATED our poor poor disposal. The unforced skills errors today were infuriating.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
