With no more supersub.... can see him being an important role in our forward line, ruck duties.

Welcome Big fella! You will become a cultural figure around here if you bash and crash for us.

Good luck!

IMO now that we have a young fit future ruckman to support Max and free up JVR plus perhaps kick a goal a game from the forward pocket aren’t one of Campbell or Johnson superfluous on our list? Can always get one in the mid year trade if it’s on next year. Casey has one also who I can’t think of.

PS Please correct me if we have another ruck tall I have omitted.

Johnson is a Key Forward who can pinch hit in the ruck. Campbell and Heath are both out and out rucks.

Wasn't Campbell just contracted for another year.

I'd also say the reason why Campbell isn't superfluous are injuries, age and possibily coaching potential. Both Max and Campbell are particularly at an age where injury is more likely to strike at any moment and/or they need to be rested more often. Would pay to have a bit more cover in that respect.

Also wounder if with restrictions on the soft cap if we'd be better off not hiring a non-playing ruck coach and just rely on Max and Tom to get the job done and instead put the money into another mids coach or something (or perhaps just cover some of the Goodwin payout)

Not necessarily bad ideas but good to have a future follower to learn under Max and we may never know how JVR might suddenly find his groove and take some grabs and kick some goals also with Mihocek lurking and leading and scoring.

Does JVR Heath Mihocek Fritta plus Kossie ( Humphrey) Langford Chin and Culley plus potentially Mentha improving provide some potential for greater totals.

If we could kick 3 More goals each game we would be in the 8 and challenging.

We are getting this bloke for a F4?! Just as a 5 man interchange is being introduced?

Umm, OK Saints, I guess that’s fair. Do you sell property too? Need something for a guy coming from QLD.

...and Lamb keeps including 'AJ' in his list of our 'young forwards coming on'.

I'm excited about this guy.

I think the five man interchange next season alongside his ability to play forward increases his chances of getting a game.

We've lacked a proper ruck/forward for years.

25 is soooooo young…

Sigh.

Future 4, something not quite right here, has he got a missing leg?

@WERRIDEE (I am using him like ChatGPT) - can you please give me a starting forward 6 plus 2 bench players but I want Heath in the 6. Ta

Edited by rpfc

Known for his aggression and tackling pressure, Heath stated that "I just enjoy tackling and being really physical on the ground, because I know it elevates my teammates into going in harder. They know I’m going in just as hard, and hopefully I can protect them or really help them out in that sort of way. I don’t want to hurt people, [but] I want to have a real physical impact on the game and put kids into the ground. Now, I’m focused on putting men into the ground.”

Beaumaris Sharks footy factory product.

Hopefully can do something every other player, other than Dogga, couldn’t do; co-exist with Maxy.

Sigh! One is from the AFL and the other from an employee of the AFL. I prefer the one without the split infinitive. It reads better.

...and it looks to clearly be the correcter one.

(See what I did there? Then I made it worser? I used to definitely be good at English. Then I became a Engineer (true fact!))

HF: Petracca, Petty, Chandler

F: Melksham, Mihochek, Fritsch

IC: Tholstrup, Heath

Now, WERRIDEE, I asked for Heath in the starting 6. Further prompts - can I get that without CP5 and Petty. Let’s see what that looks like.

Like that FF line tho

OK HF: Chandler, van Rooyen, Fritsch

F: Melksham, Mihochek, Heath

I was thinking

HF: Kozzie, Van Rooyen, Humpfrey

FF: Fritsch, Heath, Mihochek

Kossie in the midfield. I have my senior team and Casey team in the list manager thread. Humphrey won't be traded, so we won't trade Petracca.

Another Max to add to our playing list, he must be good.

We had a Max King at one stage. The illegitimate son of Gawny and Steven. Unbelievable to think he lost the genetic lottery.

Max and Max in the same team could provide us with some serious around the ground marking talent.

If done right we wouldn't need to rob peter to pay paul with Max's marking, one manages the front half and one stays behind the ball in the hole.

And unlike Gawn, the Moose doesn't 💩 the bed in front of goal.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
