If Marshall goes to the Cats, is this less likely to happen?

Nope, donโ€™t think the Saints have a contract on the table for Heath. Alex Dodson will be their back up.

And Max is finally old enough that a half decent back up is willing to join us. Especially when the alternative is to sit behind a guy on 1.7M

ย

Iโ€™d say judging by the fact that heโ€™s followed MFC & the majority of our squad on Instagram indicates that he has one foot in the door already

As l mentioned about Lamb earlier, if he refers to a potential acquisition in interviews even vaguely then usually means that it is done

Earlier in the week he mentioned wanting an experience forward and ruck support for Max

Take Heath to the bank.

ย

Probably the wrong thread for it, but with the extra spot on the bench, wonder how many coaches will have an big fella there

He's OOC at the Saints is he not?

Take pick 89 or take a hike Saints. We all know you have bigger bags of cash to fry.

Iโ€™ve been told that heโ€™s 100% coming. I will say that this mail comes via a Barista who knows the family. On a tighter ship Iโ€™d keep this to myself as little more than hearsay but here on Demonland we roll this stuff around as Fact.

You spelled hearsay as heresay and thatโ€™s heresy.

If you donโ€™t get all your trade news from your barista, are you even a Melbournian?

Was the Baristaโ€™s first name Max?

I think Judd's mum's hairdresser trumps that

Lamb on Trade Radio: "Haven't spoken to Saints yet" but we've had an "indication from Max and his management that he'd like to join us".

Well my usual barista is my partner so it was just nice to get a coffee without be asked to do something. Trade news was the bonus. The fact he then turned out to be a Melbourne supporter really turned it into the BANG BANG BANG of coffee outings.

Many of the more recent premiership ruckmen started their career at another club, and left due to lack of opportunity. Nankervis, Stanley, Cameron and Fort. Gawn is the odd one out.

I'm more excited with the acquisition of Max Heath than I am with Mihocek.

probably we swap selections around and get some going forward or back or futures or what not to help them get the hand they need to do what they need and us to get up the order or an extra higher pick next year or what not so almost certainly will take time

yeah probably something like Flanders to Saints, Petracca to Suns, Early draft pick (Suns) and Heath to Dees. Doesn't seem enough to us but maybe a future first rounder as well. Don't like it as we really need midfield depth that Humphrey would provide.

Jobe Watson was involved in the King acquisition so I reckon the mail is solid!

If Humphrey tells Gold Coast he wants to join Melbourne then I can't see a situation where they refuse a trade where Trac goes to Suns and we get Humphrey. While there might be some other picks involved we would be silly to acceot any deal that doesn't net us Humphrey and worst case Trac stays on the basis that Suns were not serious abiut getting him to their club.

any insights into heath as a player? obviously a big unit, seems pretty athletic.. is he purely a ruck, or does he have capacity to go forward and kick straight too? anyone see much of him in the vfl?

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven Kingโ€™s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
