I suspect that the AFL compensation for Charlie will be somewhere between nil and zero.

I read somewhere end of 2nd round for spargypants ? Couldn’t tell you if it was credible or not, not even sure where I saw it

He was a ruckman

He was until 15.

At 16 he moved to key forward and won 2 B and F awards as a key forward, the position we drafted him as.

Why are we even contemplating dealing with Collingwood ? ..They only give us the leftovers .Surely by now we have learned our lesson from Chris Dawes, Harry O Brien ,Ben Kennedy and whoever.Sure Henry Coles and Flash Gordon were good pick ups but that's hardly recent .

Have an idea it would be a Third year option upon agreement of both parties.

unrestricted free agent

costs us nothing other than salary cap space

Sounds like we have offered more money plus perhaps an extra year

Not thrilled to say the least...

"He is 32, turning 33 next year. Melbourne is at the front of the queue. They've got a great offer on the table for him, and I don't think you could begrudge him (leaving). This is a guy that started his AFL career at 24. He's been a warrior, a premiership player for Collingwood, but they just can't match the money.

"And they probably can't match the years, given the age and stage. Some of the issues around his body in the last couple of years, clearly hampered by the dislocated toe from the qualifying final in Saturday's prelim."

Jon Ralph said tonight On The Couch that Brody was in tears in the rooms after the Prelim, which some teammates assumed was an indicator that he’d played his last game for Collingwood.

We’ve offered 3 years, Collingwood steadfast on 2.

Surprised Jon Ralph didn’t say he was in tears knowing he is going to Melbourne.

Other than a goal, Houston was bog ordinary on Saturday and has been the same all year! Massively overated player, glad to say, we dodged a bullet!

Crazy isn’t it, he either has dropped form tremendously or hasn’t adjusted to the team, state or gameplay.

Glad we missed out as you said.

We must supremely confident that he’ll still be reasonably productive in his 34th and 35th years.

I think we can get a good year out of him next year but you’d have to wonder about the two years after.

On the positive, we’ll have a reasonably deep medium-tall forward depth chart in Mihocek, Melksham, Fritta, JVR, Jeffo, Kentfield. Whether the last 2 are AFL standard remains in question.

Mihocek is 33 in Feb. A battered 33 as well.

Offering 3 years doesn't sound like a winner move.

It doesn't but if its 2+1, who knows what the triggers are.

Let’s get specific

kicking the winning goal after the siren v Collingwood in the 2026 GF after knocking Maynard out

Now THAT’S a trigger baby! (Say in Costanza voice, yelling)

Why on Earth would we consider recruiting Mihocek? It would be an admission that we are not confident that we can develop JvR into a key forward.

Furthermore, in Steven May, we already have a player similar in size and experience to Mihocek, albeit one year older, who could assist in JvR's progress by way of 'occupying' a big defender.

Or its an admission that he needs some onfield leadership around him..some direction on how to play the role.

Offering 3 years is madness!!!! Should be 1 with triggers otherwise we'll be paying his super!

May has led our back six admirably. I see no reason why he couldn't translate his leadership skills to our forward line.

Furthermore, JvR has on-field coaches in Melksham and Fritta. Hopefully King will play him as a permanent forward and he'll get an assistant coach who can progress his skills. Something both Stafford and Chaplin have failed at.

BTW Petty takes May's spot in my team.

His performance in the Prelim was awful

Stats: 0 Behinds, 0 Goals, 0 Contested Marks, 1 Mark, 7 Disposals. I can't believe we're offering 3. Please say it isn't so.
