Which players folded? You can't pin that on individuals, it was a true team effort to collapse in that manner. It is on every player and every line.

That said, the midfield group should never play together again.

First time I legitimately don't care about any single player on the list being traded or asking out. Every single one of them can go if they like (and some should go of our doing). We are completely screwed till the Petracca and Oliver contracts end...so at least that is only 6 or 7 years to sit through. We are paying big bucks for some of the lowest IQ and least competitive football imaginable.

Honestly the best thing I've done for my kids was to encourage them to support the Bulldogs and go to the footy with their grandpa. Nobody should have to sit through yesterday and then cop all the fall out that kids will cop today. The juice isn't worth the squeeze with this club.

Correct,fitness personal,coach and line coaches and players are all to blame.

1. The player who gave the free that resulted in the fifty metre- drop him. That was the one where it completely unravelked

2. JVR not holding a mark 30 odd out

3. Oliver letting a perfect centre tap go through his outstretched arms.

4. The final debacle of not picking up the best player in comp.

5. Goodwin not recognising Saints and tgeir fans sniffed the breeze at 30 points down.

6. Nightmate thought. Lyon said at 3/4 these blokes are ready to crack, tgey are not fit

Don’t wonder about Gawns leadership. He’s just about the best leader this club would have had, it’s ok to have a bad moment on the field. He will forever be this clubs best leader, and best ruck ever.

Agree with the rest.

I think Max is a good leader in terms of personal relationships, but we definitely had a breakdown of strategy in the final quarter.

Just a cop out if anyone thinks that Gawn is the only one to organize the players on field, should come down to Viney, Trac, Oliver, Tmac. They have all been there forever.

Time for a cleanout - players and coaches.

The players over 25 aint going to win any silverware for the rest of their careers. Trade them. Cleanout the list.

Every coach out there would tell their players at 3/4 time,"Keep the pressue up and Melbourne will fall apart. It's been proven time and time again."

Its just been an accumulation of issues, from replacing a good board - with an incompetent one, then to having no board whilst candidates are on holidays, or not wanting the job yet. Clubs need a strong, stable, and competent board. That is where it all starts, and funnels down to the players. Currently, our players are a reflection of the club more broadly. We are a club in disarray. An example of a club in disarray, is multiple star players wanting out, and glued on father and sons shopping themselves around.

Couldn't agree with this more. We look unfit and without spine. There doesn't seem to be a sense of unity or purpose. Too many seem to be going through the motions & gifted games.

Can anyone shed light on what happened with leading teams?

Why is our fitness so very, very poor?

The lack of discipline and composure in the last 5 mins yesterday was telling.

This fitness issue is the most over-talked, nonsense I've ever heard. At this level of sport, differences between the fitness levels of teams is minute. It would only be a talking point if we had a significant run of injuries and were playing more than half a side of Casey players.

It is the biggest load of tripe I've heard. Our fitness is fine. It's skill execution, decision making, players levels of motivation, a mentally fatigued group and coaching that are THE reasons.

The 'we don't look fit enough' talk is due to the above. Nothing to do with actual player fitness.

The element of panic was summarised by that very last play.

Everyone bolted to get 'back' without actually moving to defend - to not be aware of their opponents, nevermind one of the in-form players of the game, is unmistakably a sign of feeling all eyes on themselves.

Focusing on the task at hand should be a comfort to anyone in a stressful moment - that's what thousands of hours of training is supposed to ensure.

Tell you what, my wife can't accelerate from a standing start much, but she sure as [censored] wouldn't go completely to water in a crisis like these million dollar ponies did.

Edit: I suppose my point is that for whatever amount of time and for multiple reasons we've had a psychological detachment between happiness or contentment and actions of substance. Like the alienated worker doing enough to hold their job, but no longer motivated by the satisfaction of doing their job well.

I have never subscribed to the 'sack the coach' mantra. That's always been the easy out for chronic disappointment.

But after yesterday - and yes, most of us are actually shell shocked as a result - the entire coaching panel needs to be looked at and of course, that starts at the top (Goody). Goody is on the boundary, so I assume he has coaches upstairs, relaying messages to him, about what they see from their vantage point. Was that happening?

I get it. The coaches can't kick the ball, slot goals, shut down players who begin to dominate, tackle and spoil. That is down to the players and the on-field leadership group. While the ultimate fatal blow was delivered courtesy of a brain fade on the 6,6,6 rule and the brilliance of Wanganeen-Millera, the rot was actually setting in around the 18 minute mark of the last quarter. Maybe I missed something, but I saw no strategic moves being made by the coaches box, to stop the bleeding. In those last crucial minutes, players who should have been on the ground, in the pivot and gathering the troops when it really mattered, were stuck on the bench. Of course, not the least of these was Kozzie.

Yet again, the MFC have, by default, created another unwanted record to enter into the club's almanac. The noise from opposition supporters is that not only is the footy club weak, but our supporter base is fair weather and are happy to cop mediocrity. Well........I know were bloody well don't. That just doesn't cut it. We want vision, we want to see a plan, we want to know what the fix may be. No more 'love' fests.

That said, we do not abuse, we do not threaten to microwave our membershipsd or not renew. We are not like that D/head who sent the social media threat about Goody. But we need and want something substantive, upon which we can hang our hats.

Most of us have had more than a gut gull of motherhood and apple pie.

Finally, it was the late, great Frank (Checker) Hughes who said to his players; “You are playing like a lot of flowers (fuschias as we were once called). Lift your heads and play like demons!”. It was that spirit that he engendered and Norm Smith inherited that saw us enter the most successful period ever.

On that last Saints kick, I haven't exactly analysed it but how hard can it be to defend with 20-21 players and 8 seconds left. Just defend any space within kicking distance from a mark.

How the hell was there so much space for Milera. Man on man was not the way to go with 20 defenders inside 50.
