Anderson is now referencing Alex Pearce's successful Tribunal hearing.

Gleeson notes in that case they found Pearce acted late to try and minimise impact, which could he says be different in this matter.

That’s not true. Pearce keeps his arm straight and that saved him. He still made strong contact, not minimal!!!

By the way, Gleeson is a magpies supporter

Geez itd be good to have the MRO and the tribunal as your unbiased adjudicators

Adrian's nine reasons

1 - May contesting the ball

2 - Legitimately expected to get to the ball first. Has his hands out, expecting he can get to the ball first

3 - Both travelling at pace, reasonable for both to do so

4 - Unexpected bounce of the ball on its fourth bounce

5 - By the time he realises Evans is there, it’s too late to slow or change momentum significantly

6 - Doesn’t move off line

7 - Doesn’t tuck elbow in or rotate, doesn’t jump off ground.

8 - Attempts to slow at the end, even though it’s too late.

9 - May significantly taller than Evans

There was an obvious 10th ground.

May is not running at Evans, he running to the ball and it is only when Evan’s comes from the side in the last split second, that there could be any knowledge or chance of a collision.

For good measure here is another.

If May was concussed and Evan’s wasn’t in this collision, would Evans be up before the Tribunal, as he would have done exactly what May is being accused of.

10 hail mary’s and a weekly dinner date at Entrecôte with Milkshake is a reasonable outcome for me

Anderson: May's attempt to win the ball was entirely realistic.

Anderson says the Dees "fundamentally disagree" with the idea it was clear Evans was going to get there first from a few steps out.

Facts are facts and Gleeson is a biased [censored]. Simple as that

We are screwed. Even if the poll inferred 99% of the general football public believes there’s no case to answer, this court is permanently compromised.

don’t even get me started about my friend AA either

You ought to be there Red !!

( Not AA )

For all Anderson’s previous sins, he’s laid down a compelling case this evening

May should get off here

‘other’ is always a chance at this kangaroo court

I thought May played it well too. Said he was surprised not to win the ball, the first few bounces were skidding and then it jumped up on the last bounce

Not confident at all despite the actual facts. We have Adrian “Hamilton Burger” Anderson advocating to Jeff “Maynard could not have reasonably foreseen the violent impact on Brayshaw” Gleeson!

Does anyone have Anderson’s stat percentage of tribunal successes?

If it's not a bump there's no case to answer.

If the ball can bounce unpredictably then how is May to predict if he will get to it first or not?

The AFL is a clown show, I'm really growing to hate this sport/competition. Amateur hour all round. Can't wait for the NFL to start again, so much better than the AFL these days.

Yep hanging for the NFL and NBA. AFL has lost the plot.

Clear difference would be Evans got to the ball first. If he concusses May in the process of getting the ball it’s incidental contact - no case to answer and rightly so. This one is going to be harsh of May as he’s playing the ball almost the whole time, but when you’re late you need to basically either not hit the head or do everything possible to avoid it.

What would happen if May got to the ball first and the exact same collision happened?

Exactly!

"The AFL argued that Steven May should have known Evans would get to the ball first."

“May should have known even if he did t know that Evan’s would get to the ball first”

AFL tribunal is clutching at straws

Very strange

I'm getting the feeling that the AFL are going through the motions and have no idea how to deal with this incident.

In years to come I think they'll treat concussion like umpire contact. Cause a concussion even accidentally = 3 weeks. The outcome will be that players will be even more reluctant to make contact

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
