Can confirm Lever's ankle and its manager were seen meeting with Peter Bell over lunch at a bayside cafe this week.

Apparently Lever’s good ankle is really angry and rival clubs are circling it.

Been dealing with it all year !!

Should be allowed to heal properly

Do the right thing footy dept.

Put him away for the year.

Rivers played most of the game down back, so I would like to see Howes come in to play that role and move Rivers to the middle and May in for Lever as the only changes.

Ins: Howes & May

Outs: Lever & Sparrow

B: Bowey May Turner

HB: McVee McDonald Salem

C: Windsor Oliver Lindsay

HF: Chandler van Rooyen Petracca

F: Viney Jefferson Melksham

R: Gawn Rivers Pickett

Int: Langdon Howes Langford Fritsch

Sub: Tholstrup

Blues have several of their top 10 most important players out and are in worse form than us...

So in short, I'm prepared for Charlie to dominate, a no-name VFL level player to kick multiple goals on May and for us to lose the game by 5 points.

Can't wait.

Yep. Curnow to break his 4 week goal drought at the 48 second mark of the first quarter and Francis Evans to kick 5.

After two big wins, there's a lot of players in contention this week, including Howes, Spargo, Billings, Culley, Sharp and our 24th player from last week Tom Campbell - the Blues do play two rucks in Pittonet and TDK after all. On top of that list we also have Petty and May to consider, if they are fit.

The definite outs IMO are Sparrow and Lever - the latter of whom is clearly not fit and hasn't been all season after persistent knee issues restricted his pre-season.

I also think sending Lindsay back to dominate at VFL level for a week isn't a bad thing, while you can certainly make a case for Tholstrop to be omitted, who I think will be a player but is still yet to really impose on a game.

I am not sure why people want Rivers going back into to the middle - he's come off his two best games this season and both were from down back. He's even starting to mix up his kicks with several clever short dinks - so my previous comment that he was looking more and more like Brent Grgic 2.0 may be a tad rude.

I've been critcial of Jeffo in the past and he's certainly a long way from being an AFL standard player, but he does lead up and is showing signs with his pace for a big bloke that he may still make it and against a weaker cdefensive unit like North helped his confidence. Another game or two this season won't hurt - although I'm actually quite excited to see if he can now dominate a VFL game.

So basically I'd go with four out - Sparrow (conc), Lever (knee), Tholstrup and Lindsay.

My four ins are May (if fit), Spargo, Howes and Culley. I'd play Petty at Casey for a week - and I'd give some consideration to playing Tom Campbell given the two rucks for the Blues, but I am not sure who comes out if we go that way.

And with Howes back, I'd start McVee on the right-side wing.

Absolutely.

Have been saying it for a couple of weeks now.

Should have the game off and go home for a freshen up for a few days.

In terms of the 8 our season is pretty well done. It's now all about balancing wins and getting games into youth. Better to get games into them now than wait until next season.

Goody talks frequently about how we are transitioning the team for another shot at the 'big one' so get games into them now..

I would play as definites Langford, Lindsay and Windsor. Kolt and Jeffo as many games as possible providing they show some encouraging incremental improvement most weeks. Goody in the presser was ok with how Jeffo presented against North.

I would even play Howes back and try McVee up the ground.

This week is an away match for us. Anyone who’s looking to sit near the cheer squad please note we’ll be in Bay M33 (Ponsford Stand).

I highly recommend sitting in the cheer squad with kids. @Ghostwriter took great care of my three grandkids, son, daughter and wife. Ghosty is an absolutely beautiful person and the members of the cheer squad were amazing with the kids. There was constant chanting and they got to hold up player heads, wave flags and go crazy. The kids adored it.

I was interested to hear the love for Tommy Mac in the cheer squad. One of my grandsons asked me why some of the cheer squad women kept on yelling for TMac to tighten-up his shoe laces. I was honest and said they think Tommy has a great tush. My grandson was very surprised. When Tommy finally adjusted his shoelaces close to the cheer squad early in the 4th quarter, we just about had fainting spells with some of those gathered.

But seriously, the Melbourne Cheer Squad comprises people with beautiful hearts.

A wonderful expereince. Thank you so much Ghosty ❤️

Awww you’re so welcome! What a lovely family you have. You told our Ryan that he does a wonderful job and you thanked him and that means the world to the rest of us.

The requests for Tmac to tie his shoelaces is something that’s been a thing for many years from his biggest and most devoted fan in the cheer squad. He always acquiesces. She wasn’t at the match on Sunday so we were requesting it on her behalf and when he did it, many a photo was snapped 🤣

She also used to do the same with Jeremy Howe when he was a Demon. And two years ago while warming up for Collingwood before playing us he was up our end and he did a slow-mo very sexy bend from the waist and slapped his butt, turned around at winked at us. It was hilarious. I still don’t like him though

Maybe he does. He only played a half game on Sunday, so seems they may be managing his minutes that way.

Reading the tea leaves or is it straight from the horse's mouth bag? Jake Lever joins Tom Sparrow on the sidelines. Harrison Petty to return via Casey. Who comes in? Shall have to await how the numbers roll in the roulette wheel.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
