Have had two go's at this so roughly a month apart and since the end of the season has arrived i feel its fair to give it one final attempt

Retire: Hore, Billings, McDonald, Campbell

Delist: Woewodin, Henderson, Brown, Fullarton, Verrall

Trade: Petracca, May

UFA: Spargo

If we can pay out Laurie or McAdam then thats a bonus, dont think it saves anyone per se but they are list cloggers.

McDonald or Fullarton could stay, and honestly I'd lean Fullarton now, but McDonald one game shy of 250 probably keeps his spot. May showed hes about to fall off a cliff, his assets are starting to fail him with age. We cannot enter 2026 with May and McDonald as our key defenders. Fullarton has shown in 3 weeks that maybe he can be a solution.

I think one domino falls, for me it would be salem or oliver but i think trac to the hawks is a possibility.

Aug 24th geez i was close, missed Sestan and overshot on Campbell and Henderson. 50:50'd McDonald/Fullarton so I'll half pay it. Got the trades out right when it could have been any or none

geez i would hope heath doesn't cost us a second round pick

  • unrestricted free agent: mihocek

  • delisted free agent: derksen

  • 2025 3rd: heath

  • rookie: white

  • rookie: sinnema

  • 2026 1st: flanders

With May almost out the door and Petracca possibly out the door we could use our 2nd rounder. I'm not gonna write off Petracca as yet but I have written off May.

B: Lever, Petty, McVee

HB: Salem, Turner, Bowey

C: Culley (a), Oliver, Langford

HF: Pickett, Miochek, Petracca

F: Melksham, Fritsch, Chandler

FOLL: Gawn, Rivers, Flanders

IC: Lindsay, Windsor, Viney, Langdon

SUB: Laurie

Casey

B: Berry (b), Adams, Derksen

HB: Howes, McDonald, Moniz-Wakefield (a)

C: Sinnema (a), 2nd Rounder, Sharp

HF: Mentha (b), Johnson, Henderson (a)

F: Kentfield (a), van Rooyen, Jefferson

FOLL: Heath, Sparrow, Tholstrup

IC: McAdam, White (a), Campbell

I just watched Gettable and we can get an end of second rounder for Spargo which I'm happy about thought we'd get nothing for him. I can't see Trac going to Adelaide we would want Thilthorpe and Fogerty minimum. I think Gold Coast can get the job done Flanders and pick 6 should get it done. It means we can hold on to a future 1st rounder. We should then have picks 6, 23 and 37. I think 53 or 59 could get us White if he is bidded on at that time. I think Sinnema should be a rookie. 37 will probably be used on Heath

HF: Sharp, Johnson, Henderson (a)

F: McAdam (a), Kentfield (a), Jefferson

I'd delist McAdam and put him on the rookie list.

Donโ€™t mind the above but Iโ€™m hoping we can either hold onto our 2026 first or use it to trade into this yearโ€™s draft as I still think we need to draft more top end talent.

How about 2025 & 2026 second rounders for Flanders?! Gives Suns points for academy players this year and decent pick next year.

How about I swap my 2011 Hilux for my mates holiday house?

I donโ€™t think 23 and a future second is far off the mark. Itโ€™s pretty much bang on what we paid for Ed Langdon at a similar age and as I mentioned Suns require points this year assuming they trade out pick 6.

He would need to nominate us of course.

Our first round pick next year could easily be as good as last years. Iโ€™m not trading a Langford level player for Flanders.

Petracca to Gold Coast for Flanders and a first rd pick most likely 13 or 16, cant see them giving 6

Mcvee and our second rd to freo for freo first round

May to dogs for future 3rd

Spargo end of second rd compo to st kilda for heath.

Take 2 first rounders in the draft, White and NGA pick late or rookie.

I would be demading Flanders and pick 6 or keeping Petracca. we don't need to give away one of our best players, who is contracted for a pick 13 that'll be pushed into the 20's and a pretty good young player. that's just not how this works.

same thing with the Crows, they can offer us 2 first round picks, but this years is going to be a pick around 20, and next years if they win the flag would be 18. those two picks are a fair way off the mark.

It has to be 6 or no deal. Petracca is a gun Flanders hasn't proven himself.

McVee is staying.

You seem to always overlook the elephant in the room โ€“ Tracc's sizable contract. If Tracc wants to leave and we are able to remove his contract from our books and pick up Flanders and maybe P13, then that would be a fantastic result. That said, I would like to keep him.

I reckon we will be paying part of his wage. It's a ridiculous wage and it's hard to see GC or anyone wanting to take it 100% on their books.

If it's Flanders, what we get back will in value will probably be tied to what od Tracc's contract we're prepared to pay. It's hard to see anyone wanting to deal a straight swap because Tracc's output isn't worth that money anymore

Would he be worth a look?

No

This is why i am not overlooking it. if Trac came out tomorrow and said i am pledging the rest of my career to help Melbourne win a premiership, NOONE on here would complain about him staying.

The truth is essentially anyone associated in any way with the MFC would like to see a healthy happy Petracca stay at Melbourne, if that's not possible he's contracted and my minimum standards to feel okay with a trade for someone of his quality are.

  • the club takes on his ENTIRE contract in full

  • we receive a top 10 draft pick and a best 22 player or a second first round pick in a trade

Short of this i don't see any incentive whatsoever for us to trade him, we're already paying for Gus and Goody to not be involved at our club, we don't want to keep adding to that list.

Heath/Derksen should both cost 4th rounders IMO

2nd rounder for Heath surely not

With the revised points scheme GC are probably going to need 6 to have enough points to pay for Uwland and Patterson - which is a good thing.

13 plus Flanders might be the best we can do. It's hard to see Adelaide offering better than that.

If JT likes someone, we can probably trade 13 into the top 10 using some of 23, the May trade and Spargo compo. We don't have the list space to take many picks.

7 off the list - Spargo, KBrown, Fullerton, Hore, Verrall, Billings, Sestan

2 on the list - SSP top ups Henderson and Culley have earned one year deals so get added

โ“โ“Taj Woewodin/ Woey junior - does he seek to get traded to either Freo or Eagles

โ“โ“Steven May - Hope he stays and sees out his career. He didnโ€™t have a great year but when fit, he was still a mountain in defence

Contractedย 2026ย

McAdamโญ•๏ธsure he has mercurial talent but canโ€™t believe he was 29 yo and injury prone and he got 3 years (Tim Lamb: was there a trigger clause even thought about? ) Maybe he gets to see out his final year. Have to somehow hopeย ๐Ÿคžhe can stay on the park or I think heโ€™ll have to retire early.

Laurieโญ•๏ธ elite at VFL Level. Just wish heโ€™d got more chances at AFL game and shown something. He has been on our list 5 years now. Might just seek opportunity elsewhere.

Contracted. The โ€œ1-year clubโ€

The Veterans.ย (5)ย Melksham Tmcdย May McAdam Campbell

On the edge. (10) ย ย  Laurie Woey jnr Jeffo Adams Johnson rookies: Kentfield Culley AMW Mentha Henderson

Thatโ€™s a lot of unproven or players in their twilight. Conceivably all 15 could be gone at end 2026.

  • Added Culley and Henderson as upgrade from SSP to the list

5 new additions

  • Add some trade in players

    Draftโ€ฆย

  • Add White (likely list) and Sinnema (likely cat b rookie)

  • Add 2 quality youngsters in the draft

Lamb's first mission in his redemption arc is to guide Petracca to the Suns and to swindle a couple of excellent picks out of them for a 30 year old
