Casey up for the challenge? After a couple of confidence buildings wins in recent rounds.

MagPIES seem to be traveling better than Casey overall.

Ooops it's Collingwood nepo babies of the competition!

WTF This Smithys VFL is doing my head in .What a absolute disgrace playing at Footscray 🤮

If it stays dry I may well head down. The ground looks lovely these days and the surface is good too. Dead easy to get to on public transport. Hopefully there isn't a howling gale to the southern end.

Just checked. Another bloody weekend with rail replacement buses. For anyone coming from town it's easier to get off at Footscray and walk. 25 minutes on foot or 1 hour 25 minutes if you stop in at the Victoria Hotel.

Game Televised LIVE from Whitten Oval from 7.00 pm courtesy of 7 MATE !! 😁

Looks like it might be a bit wet. But the surface is good, like all the ovals these days. It should be a good test for Casey. I still think that they can win by 10+ goals against pretty much anyone if they don’t turn the bloody thing over. So keep watch for overuse of handball in the rain.

I won’t complain, round the corner for me, will swing by to have a look.

I was def going and really looking forward to it (i live in the Southwest, so it's practically a home game) - but i just realised i have to wash my hair.

Thought this was a day match at Victoria Park which weather permitting could have been pleasant to attend.

Would have liked Port Melbourne oval as well but count me out for Saturday night next to the old Geelong Rd flyover

Sure are Dazzle with AJ and Laurie out that we know of and Culley, Howes, Jefferson, Tholstrup and JvR AFL listed, must want these boys to be part of our biggest game of the year in some aspect.

Why keep Jeffo as emergency when building impressive form at Case?? Surely keep playing him there rather than miss a game as emergency... MADNESS if correct! HOWES has been Ok but Jeffo in WHITE HOT FORM!

I do agree but as AJ is out, probably I thought JVR in as forward and 2nd ruck will be the inclusion. Laurie goes out.

Have to consider Casey players form over past 2 games was played v Bullants & Swans in last 2 weeks as 20th and 21st places teams in VFL !!

Shall be watching the debut of young tyro goal scorer from Buln Buln, (Patrick Ireland 192cm 92kg) with interest this evening.

The actual Casey team usually differs from that selected, and shown here. Initially the MFC side will list 8 on the extended bench (tonight), and then three will become emergencies, some or all of whom will play on Saturday night - perhaps one completely rested (or limited minutes) as the carryover emergency for Monday.

What is the correct pronunciation of Baldi?

  1. As in bald - no hair?

  2. Baldee - bal as in balcony .?

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
