Never gets old.

I save it for special wins only.

The last two victories pass the bar easily.

Walked in the door with Lord Edward in his Melbourne jumper singing the theme song and Hawthorn-supporting wifey says to me "now, I have something really weird to tell you and I don't want you to feel weird... I think I'm going to start supporting Melbourne". ❤️💙 Music to my ears. BOG, wifey.

In other news, our transition is getting better, but still a lot of room for improvement, and the goalkicking 🫣 But we're starting to punish teams on turnover and in the second half went from 2 goals from stoppage to Sydney's 2 goals, to then scoring at least 6 goals from stoppage.

I think JVR will straighten us up in AJs spot in time, though AJ did some handy things. Clarry almost back to his best, still a few fumbles. Trac dynamic out of stoppage, not far off his best. Max was Max. And 20 [censored] tackles inside 50. 🤯👏🎉

Did anyone see that huge flock of black cockatoos that flew over the ground during the third quarter. Haven’t seen black cockies in Melbourne since 2021…just saying 😂

dees - 125.7 + 3 rushed (128.7)

swans - 62.3 + 1 rushed (63.3)

score is missing the swans last behind, so realistically swans xscore is probably 65-66

Thank you

It was pretty surreal. They came in with hundreds of seagulls. I wondered what they knew that we didn’t.

Great day out at the G. Great win and great performance other than our goal kicking

Big guns starting to find form, we have real rhythm in our game now.

I liked Petty's game. selfless and determined.

I'm not sure at all about AJ. Maybe creating chaos is enough but he has no skills at all.

Melks is like a fine wine. Gets better with age

Kossie very good, Clarry best game of the year, Bowey excellent and Maxy a beast as per usual

the season is well and truly alive

Go dees

It always fascinates me how everyone has a different take on games.

I didn't think Petty was that good today. Although he had a very good last quarter. He seemed to struggle marking with only one for the day. But below his knees he was good for the height he is.

I think maybe his class today was just presenting often as a target and creating a contest so players like Kozzie and a few others could get their fill. A few crucial assists from him. I'll keep more focus on the replay because your not alone in singing Petty's praises. Cheers Bda. Enjoy the rest of this fine evening.

Freakish sight. Our Ryan has an intense fear of birds so he was struggling, but only on the inside where it was a Hitchcock movie going on, but on the outside he didn’t miss a beat.

BTW we’ve beaten both of last year’s grand finalists in consecutive weeks.

YEAH THE MIGHTY [censored] DEES!!!’

Spargs passed the HIA test apparently.

That’s good news for Spargs and it was wise of us to activate the sub almost instantly. Game would’ve been almost over by the time the test was completed.

AJ is all effort and while low in skill, note the dropped chest mark 20 out and the fumbled handball, he assisted with 4 goals and some crunching tackles.

Every team needs an AJ, who will crunch packs, put his body on the line and play the selfless footy that team mates love.

"I'll have what she's having "

Maybe just hyped up on footy. And why not.

Maybe they flew in to watch Kozzie.

Fantastic win, particularly special because half my family is from NSW and is the "Good game number eight" sort of Swans supporter.

In the last five minutes Sydney looked like they had a spare man back? Seemed an odd choice when down by 50.

We shouldve won by 20 goals. Good win. But [censored]. Very inaccurate. Cannot always be saved by class (Kozi). A byproduct of having a ruck man as forward coach in recent times - is that we convert with the accuracy of a ruck man.

James Jordon: 10 disposals, 2 tackles, numerous stuff-ups and turnovers. I hope @Demonsone was watching! 😀

I didn't notice him until he coughed up the ball for one of our goals in the last quarter. At least he's getting a game every week now I guess.

Its a shame he don't have much talent. He plays a much needed role, as we have that gap to fill. Wish it were Jacko. Can see why we won one.

Yes extraordinary, never seen so many black cockatoos flying together in Melbourne. Loved how they flew in formation, reminiscent of a WWII bomber squadron, straight through the hundreds of seagulls circling and sent them flapping off in a panic. There is something surreal about the way they fly in slow motion.

Very jumpy. A bit shell shocked. Don't miss Jordon. He could be fitter.

So much to like about that but I want to highlight AJ. He causes chaos up front, so much of which results in goals. We counted 5 today.

Go Dess

The best 1 kick 5 handball game I can remember.

Massive compliment for Bowey. Cox used Jordon to tag Bowey, at least in the first half. Jordon has played on some of the best this year.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
