[censored] i hate the Cats

Biulldogs all over them but 17 behinds is too many

Very annoying that the umpires seriously effect the momentum of the game with dubious decisions, ones that even the commentators are laughing about

Has been the same story for us a number of times—gotta take advantage of your chances. 17 behinds is brutal.

But at the same time…frees being 26-12 is just appalling. And I reckon if you look at where/when those frees were paid it was just as appalling.

The umpires loved the dogs for a few years so a little pay back perhaps

they still throw it a lot

Dogs are in trouble

Dogs have been crucified by the maggots tonight. I’d love me to see every other team play down there just like we do.

They lost it in the second quarter

Geelong took their chances and kicked straight. Footscray did not.

Yep & the 2nd quarter which I'm sure they'll scrutinise because they were terrible

Umpiring in this match worth an AFL inquiry. But in the end if you kick with that level of accuracy, you will win most matches.

So Troy Pannell getting called by Ricciuto for an AFL investigation…………….may as well make it a comprehensive umpire-wide investigation.

Especially the uber dodgy #22 Nathan Williamson.

Bulldogs fans should be outraged. The free kicks for Geelong are a joke and fixed 26 to 12. Dogs got high shots and no free kicks. Cats goals from frees to nil. Seriously !!!

If the AFL are serious then Kornes needs to be banned from being on the ground.

Not sure for how long but it needs to happen.

He just can't do this kind of thing & get away with it.

Agreed but the AFL and media love the controversy. All week they were pushing the Bailey Smith v Bulldogs line and trying to incite a response. The cameras during the game honed in on a group of mad Dogs fans going nuts and upped the volume when the booing came for Bailey. Smith had more camera on him than Nick Daicos. All had the desired effect. Corns v Bev just part of the same soap opera. Tune in for the next instalment

Recently there have been a few posts complaining that at the ball up after a goal, the video starts with a small inset of the centre area which only widens out to fill the screen as the ball is bounced. The complaint is that makes it impossible to see how the players are setting up for the bounce.

But it reached a new height last night - the full screen view often didn't switch to the bounce until well after the play was actually underway. Instead we see the face of the player who kicked the goal for a second or third time.

Forget detailed analysis - they can't even broadcast the game. It is clear that they have no interest in football, just drama (and $).

The issue as I see it is how the umpires are coached. This is how some teams are umpired differently to others. Pies, Hawks and Cats in particular. And Bulldogs when not playing any of the mentioned teams.

Just dumb then by English. Dogs have all the momentum & a dumb free gives cameron his 6th

Not even sure what the free was for, let alone the very soft 50m penalty. Headband umpire is having a mare.

Yep, exactly!

One of the most important parts of the game – Centre clearances – is almost impossible to see with most broadcast.

And don’t even get me started on the incompetence of the VFL broadcasts. You’re lucky to have the picture on the screen at all – just some rubbish that they put on during the breaks.

We all know that the umpiring last night was disgraceful.

The next question I guess is whether it was misconduct, or simple incompetence?

If it’s the “noise of affirmation”, can we put some noise cancelling headphones on these guys, or give them some training on not being easily influenced?

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road for their 3rd interstate game in 4 weeks as they face a fit and firing Crows at Adelaide Oval. With finals now out of our grasps what are you hoping from the Dees today?

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
