Wouldnโ€™t get a game at Oodnadatta โ€” not because heโ€™s not talented, but because Kevin the club sheepdog applies more pressure, impacts more contests, and doesnโ€™t need four GPS trackers to prove he was โ€˜in the areaโ€™.

Brilliant Analogy and 100% correct

Turner will be moved forward. He's actually pretty good at ground level and he's in great form. Petty to be back up ruck.

Like it or not, we just can't have 4 tall defenders so Turner has to go forward. I'd prefer AJ over Petty in the ruck, but Petty's marking and contest work edges out AJ.

I'd put Spargo as the sub as I think Fritta deserves a full game after his efforts.

Agree, but would have either Sharp or Brown as sub. Spargo at Casey where he belongs! Not quick enough, nor kicks enough goals as a small forward!

I think Lever comes straight in next week, he pushes Windsor out of the backline. I would also drop Sharp and Spargo. Any of Viney/Pickett/Langdon could fill the HF spots. Windsor can play a mix of HF or wing.
In: Viney, Lever
Out: Spargo, Sharp

Would like to see Windsor back on the wing rather than play in the backline, with the swans down players courtesy of the tribunal and their form at the G. This is a gettable game if they bring the same effort as they brought against the lions.

Yeah the other option is push Viney to HF to play that pressure role ahead of Sharp, Spargo or Sparrow. They mentioned it On The Couch last night and how Viney out also allowed more mid time for Rivers which you'd like to see continue.

As you probably know, I've been asking for Viney to play a forward role for 5 years, but they never do it. There's always a chance they start it this week.

I've been surprised they've never rotated him through the forward line.

Instead of pulling players off all the time , I'd prefer to see some just change role for periods.

Imho not only can they bring other sides of their respective games to bear but also challenges the opposition in match ups etc.

Overated, harking back to the 70ts type footy. Cannot possibly sustain a 5 possession game and a lucky goal surely!

I know, I know

But he's a bull - love to watch him knock blokes over

Hard to know what to make of the Swans. Staistically, very similar profile to us. Decent inside 50s, but pretty inept up forward. Very low contested marks and league worst marks inside 50s. Its easy to say stop Warner and Heeney but youd almost guarantee them each a 22 touch 1 goal game. Its not like they are unknowns or have many bad games.

The frustration will be if Haywood or Mclean or some other random pulls down a few marks up forward and they kick 100 points. They have only scored more than 12 goals once all year (against north). Without Amartey, we really should dominate in defence if pressure is on the ball carrier. Should be an even game on paper, but these are the ones that often end up being a blow out as one part of the loser's game just falls apart.

The only [censored] thing about Lever coming back is Turner going up forward. I reckon heโ€™s a good pinch up forward , but has elite potential behind the ball. Loving his kicking out of D50.

Has anyone ever thought of playing Ricky across half forward ๐Ÿค”

Just a left field thought.

In: Lever, Viney

Out: Sharp, Windsor

I admit that will require a bit of a shuffle in the backline to accommodate 4 talls but Turner is no slouch

Looking at this Video, it will be hard to drop players

1 - That Jeff White video is most informative and a good watch.

2 - So much for the theory that the umpires hate us and/or the AFL instructs them to be biased against us.

Dees we beat SWANS 24 pts, ST.KILDA 47 pts , COLLINGWOOD 20 pts , PORT ADELAIDE 115 pts. Did anyone NOTICE I was ONLY 1 pt out on the BRISBANE win, just saying.

I mean if Kalani comes to the Dees next season, why doesn't Jeff come on board as a ruck/midfield coach?

Spargo was poor again on the weekend

I wouldn't dispute that he was poor, just putting that in context around why they may be persevering with him.

Or not. We shall see.

I think some posters are being uncharitable to AJ. People are writing about him like heโ€™s reached his ceiling.

However, heโ€™s only 25, played just 3 games and been in the AFL system for all of 6 months. Last year was only his second in the VFL and he was working full time on the tools.

Heโ€™s been on a rapid upwards trajectory and with his attitude thereโ€™s every chance it continues.

If he can hold his own in the ruck, kick 1-2 goals and scare the bejesus out of the opposition, heโ€™ll earn his keep.

Find a way to give him a stint of 4 games. Love to see him run out against Collingwood on Kingโ€™s Birthday after swallowing the whole bottle of Fritschโ€™s angry pills!

Lever confirmed that he would be in this week. Well, he kind of did, just that he's ticked everything off and is good to go.

i want AJ in the side because he brings big man vigour that others do not in the same way, and I want him going hard and with confidence for Queens Birthday and an appointment with a certain Number Four.

Curious what match ups Lever, May and McDonald have this week? I wouldnโ€™t be bringing Lever in this week.

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
