Mostly agree but thought Riv was pretty good. 23 with 8 contested at 74% and 5 clearances. Max was fantastic but as you say, not quite fantastic enough. Too much left to too few.

Thought Lindsay was very good. Hawks wings aren’t mugs and he held his own and looked every bit the player I was hoping for. Won some very creative possessions.

Turner went forward and the flood gates opened for them. I like what he does up forward but until we have lever back we need him in defence.

Another great game by Gawn. Cherishing every memorable performance I get to witness now.

Whole team - unusually fumbly day

Lindsay - liked his work

JVR - OK when rucking

Last quarters against good oppo. -

Our bloody Kryptonite

Oliver - salary dump incoming

Windsor - ceiling rapidly lowering

JVR - not the answer

Jefferson - words not required

Tholstrup - draft position unwarranted

Langford - enhancing his reputation

Lindsay - unassuming yet reliable

Windsor was fantastic today

He killed Ginnivan and had a lot of the footy.

Fritch Never select again
Play at Casey

JVR - great backup ruck

JVR - Not a forward

JVR - only hope backline

Langford - star in making

X - incredibly clever player

Bowey - obvious connection solution

Kozzie - keep all costs

Yeah, he looks done as a player.

Lindsay had IMO the best individual effort of the season for us and it led to a goal, so I definitely noticed him.

That kid is all class. Footy IQ off the charts, so much time and space with ball in hand and super competitive for a slight player.

To think he missed a big chunk of his first pre season with a PCL injury and is able to play full games on the wing, is pretty phenomenal.

He will be a star. It was written all over him from his very first game.

He'll be ok but was gassed at the end and at his age missing key parts of preseason is going to do that to you.

My father always said to me as we watched the Demons from the wing on the MCG in the sixties

That Brian Dixon is never beaten one on one and is a great mark for his size

Xavier is the closest I’ve seen since those days

Great observation - has long arms like BD, though XL is a better kick and one cannot even try to compare athleticism from those days.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
