Nothing he said would quell the violent mob we’ve become but, for me, I’m still glad he came out and said something.

If Brad's statement stopped at the first paragraph and started again at the i want to thanks the members part then you could argue this is an acceptable/nothing statement.

In totality, what has been sent out, is a load of [censored] and an insult to the intelligence of our fan base.

It's not obvious to me. Our teams lack of pressure, ability to lay effective tackles to pressure the ball carrier / force turnovers, and poor kicking and/or forward movement into our forward 50 makes it impossible to compete. While coaching is a part of the problem it is more to do with the 18 players on the ground not performing at the level required irrespective of match day tactics.

Totally agree chookrat when you only have 12-14 players solidly contributing against bummers 16-18 players working hard, you have no hope. Time for drastic change, our bottom 6-8 players wouldn’t be missed. Give those players at Casey that are working hard a chance to have a crack.

To me if we don't get an industry experienced hard hitting CEO I will start getting concerned that current short term issues may become long term issues

Loosely translated....

"Thanks for flying Demons, we'll try not to crash again next flight"

I don't want a good man i.e Brad to run the club. We need someone that has mongrel in them. I heard that Brad said the board has every faith in Goody , usually means he is a dead man walking.

We are not going to turn things around as the players in my opinion do not want to play for Goody and co. I wonder how we can get our first round pick back from Essendon. Perhaps Fritsch, two second rounders for there 1 st rounder and 2 x 4 th rounders. Maybe we will be stupid enough to give them Fritsch and our future 1 st rounder.

Will be interesting what the media vultures make of Brad Green's letter.

As President he had to say something. But it's definitely a case of "damned if you do, and damned if you don't" as others have said.

The pressure shouldn't just be squarely on Simon Goodwin's shoulders though. The players are paid alot of money to win in a high performance sport. If they don't perform they shouldn't get paid as much as they do.

If he said nothing he’d avoid a meaningless response like today’s letter, but be criticised for being “asleep at the wheel” or similar.

If he says what he said today it’s vice versa.

Reality is, because we’re down in the dumps and/or in a crisis right now, he is going to be criticised no matter what he does.

Or he could you know be a leader and actually do something, put the players / coaches on notice publicly that this won’t stand and there will be repercussions if things don’t change and quickly

What a load of Codswallop!!!

People aren’t going Brad if changes aren’t made, lucky to get 10k on Saturday

So, you're a fair weather supporter? Not sure we need more of those.

Totally pathetic nothing response from the club, basically trust me bro

Calm down, Garbo. We all have to stay the course. There are no silver bullets, just persistence.

It's what the letter doesn't say that says everything. I would say that negotiations with Simon are at an advanced stage.

Too early to assume we will finish last and give the Bummers the First Pick. Hold, hold...

Can you running Goody's post match press conferences through the AI checker?

  1. I have the highest paid subscription level to chatGPT

  2. I asked it to aggregate Simon's cliques over the last 12 months

  3. I fair dinkum broke it

  4. Came back with a response like that of Robot from Lost in Space - "does not compute"

Dead set life imitating art.

They are long term issues. One flag in 60 years says so.

@DeeZone I greatly value your opinions so wondering what shocked you about my post. Cheers.

Clearly some people are going to be critical of anything that Brad says in this situation, some will appreciate that he has spoken and some will prefer that nothing is said. As such, he can't win, whatever he does.

Without outlining exactly why we are in this position and what we intend to do differently to fix the situation, I find the letter entirely pointless. As such, I think I'd prefer he said nothing and avoid giving the media anything to tear apart.

I would like to think that he has been far less "vanilla" behind closed doors.

You know what Bluey I think he is too old for the job. Being envolved at the top of an AFL club is not easy. It is the job for younger person. He quit the MCC to live a quieter lifestyle.

He’s only 69 Old Dee. If he is healthy and fit, age shouldn’t be an issue at all. It’s his qualities and experience we are after.

FFS sake - ease up on Brad Green. A great of the club and has been nothing but a decent Melbourne person for 30 years. Came onto the Board when it was suing each other and accepted the presidency when the two that preceeded him were doing their best to destroy the joint. Made the lawyers go away - removed the toxic CEO and is now lumped with a premiership coach who can't read the room. The guy has been surrounded by psychos and many want to pot him. Amazing

Sorry LH just re/read your post I liked that you raised the point re the FD review, we certainly need an update as to where it has progressed to I guess I reacted to the inference that it may have been a sham given the coverage that it received post season. Sorry.

Should have realised it was an 'emogi typo' as I've never seen you react or comment negatively to any posts.

Thanks 😊

Maybe he should have said nothing. But I get the feeling no matter what he does he'll get criticised. Apparently the club remains silent too much but now....

If you were tasked to write this what would you say? Not write a formulaic (AI) letter? Not mention anything positive? Just regurgitate the most Chicken-Little stuff Melbourne fans are posting on social media? What exactly?

Can't see how 5 losses in a row can cause a more urgent response than 3 or 4, in fact we have only won 1 in 10 if you include last year. Empty words.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
