Max has had it drilled into his poor bonce so many times and continues to believe that "weight of numbers will win the day and is the Melb way" and that eventually the wheel will turn. "Just take more learnings from losses and work harder each week".

All that this constant (Simon's inability or unwillingness to change things up effectively) has done is, over time, made us the easiest team to plan, train and play against on game day.

Unfortunately we have become an oppo coach's dream fixture. We make most teams look like potential premiership contenders. Even the dud ones like Essington and Norf.

I know much has been made of our impotent forward half, but can we take a second to acknowledge how leaky and broken our defence has become, so far this season our opponent has an average final score of 100.3

Let that sink in, so far this season on average, we concede 100 points a game, that is mindboggling from a team that use to barely allow the opponent to get past 65.

It doesn't matter if we fix everything up in the forward half if our defence continues to perform to such a poor standard.

Not great, but disgusted by the so called fans who are teeing off.

Probably not the thread, but there are signs of things coming together. Or at least not being as dire as some folk imagine or expect.

There was a mark in the forward line we didn't get, and if May was a forward they'd have given him that mark in the last quarter. Then there were a couple of last minute goals which weren't really reflective of the state of play.

Basically, I have an overly invested 16 year old who flies from "we are the greatest" to "we are the worst team with the worst players ever" - he's been at work tonight, so will want a report on the game: I'll tell him that we had our moments, found our shape in the third, but aren't the basket-case some folk (internally and external) are wanting us to be.

I watch Langdon's game and am reminded of that run of his in the '21 grand final, I watch Gawn and think, while there are 17 up and comers in the competition, he still finds a way to dominate and/or just lead, I see CP5: a slight adjustment and he picks up a couple of crucial goals.

At the end of the day - I put my Dee's socks on on game-day and wear my MFC retro jacket when I walk the dogs. Soon it will be cold and I will pop on the scarf - prob 2021 but maybe one from the other years that #werentsogood.

It's never as bad as you think it is. And for those folk who think it's the worst of the worst... meh, it's a dumb game we watch once a week for half the year...

Goody sounded super shaky in the presser. I feel acutely sorry for the bloke - he knows he’s done, and he knows we all know.

I'd say langdon was hands down our best

Bowey gets to the right places, works his butt off but also has very poor vision, often panic kicks and kicks to a 1 v1 , a 2 v1 or to the non favoured side of player / or on his head etc.

He almost never looks inside when running forward either. Everything in straight lines. Easy to defend and rarely tests or asks questions of the oppo defenders.

If he cleaned the vision, delivery a decision making up he'd be an outstanding player.

That goal from the boundary in the GF was up there with the greatest goals in GF history. But let’s be honest, if you stood 10 metres away holding a beer, you wouldn’t worry he’d knock it out of your hand.

We've lost any potency we once had to put serious pressure in for extended periods or run back in support / intercept a kick behind the ball etc.

Once the ball clears their congested area of immediate contest they basically jog around ball watching and looking to run down the odd tackle in traffic if they happen to get close enough.

Although it improved from a low base tonight, our pressure game has also been poor for much of this and last season vs what's required if you're to compete with the better clubs. Teams are just toying with us on transition, around stoppage and on the spread once the ball is out.

We're also now playing amateurish footy around stoppage (again) with too many getting sucked into or ball watching at the contest. If the oppo gets first use, which is usually about 50%+ of the time, alot of the time they can easily find exits out the front and then they're off to the races easily as one or two too many of ours are still back at the stoppage / contest area.

The definition of madness is repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Unfortunately, the Demons players just don't seem to respond to him anymore. They all love Goody as a mate but they don't seem to respect him very much. Otherwise, they would play with the intensity and ferocity required to win.

Simon is now "delulu with no solulu" it seems. Best that he falls upon his sword and leaves rather than gets sacked. We can all then start fresh.

Time to start calling John Longmire, Adam Simpson, Justin Leppitsch and other potential coaching candidates for season 2026. Time for change.

I can forgive that we suck. Ageing players, injuries, getting out coached... I'd have accepted this if the price was a flag 4 years ago.

I just can't accept how boring we are. I'd rather lose 100-150 than the way we play now. It's worse than being bad. It's dull. It's pathetic.

Goodwin's coaching for his life, surely he sees that it's either show something or he's gone? Wouldn't you throw some caution to the wind??

Round 15 and 16, 2020 against lowly Sydney and Freo were the same. Inefficiency cost us finals. 

Now 2022-25 the same old BS repeated! Even after a flag, this club finds new ways of disappointing fans. Goodwin has a pattern and a one off 2021 (which I am grateful for) does not mean he gets a pass. 

Inefficiency, moving the ball and goal kicking has been an issue ever since Goodwin took over. 2021 was a lot better, but is now an anomaly.

So, no, you are wrong. Fans/members have EVERY right to tee off at the basket case this club is becoming yet again. I only pay $750 for my membership, so can’t imagine those who pay the $1000+ yearly.

We lost it in the first half. Deplorable football everything was just so hard. The 3rd quarter was the best quarter we played all year, then of all people May to drop a sitter and give away an easy goal when we had all the play and was only 10 points down was unforgivable. He's been poor all year like all of them have been. Thank god for Gawn I don't know where we would be without him, Kossie and Langdon were pretty good too.
