Watching the Swans & pies ball movement forwards kicking goals vs us go around in circles & missing shots

Edited by Demonsone

Audacious field kicking has gone to another level this year. The skills we’ve seen are just unreal.

What was outstanding 5 years ago now just feels commonplace. Things have jumped up a notch.

22 Nathan Williamson. He’s a shocker. Always gives Dees a bad run. We can only hope this changes this weekend!!

Don't tell me we've got the smiling assassin again!!??

Wow imagine trading in forwards who can take a mark & goal!

It’s not just our entries inside fwd 50, it’s our players inability to create space for each other, look at Adelaide v Geelong last night. Ours smalls are seemingly out of position more often than not.

Pies vs Swans. Ball movement from both sides seems to be at a level above anything we could even dream about, so far anyway. Yeah plenty of player mistakes and skill errors but neither side stops the relentless, high risk ball movement. We just do not operate in this space.

All with DeGoey, Houston, Goulden and Mills missing.

How on earth can they play anything resembling a gameplan with key players out.

Dees standards versus any of what we see from the cats, crows, pies or swans… we are so far behind in transition , pace, forward craft, defensive pressure, tackling efficiency… wow how we did get so far behind.

You just know that Disco Turner would slot in so well at Sydney.

My elderly dad was paired up with Sidebottom and another Collingwood player (he didn’t know his name) for 18 holes of golf, about 10 years or so ago.

Said he was an excellent guy. Super friendly, genuine and accommodating. My dad was 60ish at the time and they were both pretty good. But at no point did he feel like they were becoming impatient with him.

I love seeing Sidebottom still playing well. I’m a fan.

Culture & trading vfl quality! Just compare the trades

There is something calming about watching two sides play when you really don’t care who wins. it’s refreshing, but about half a step away from turning it off altogether.

I don’t think there is anything particularly special about these teams. I think we are very close to scoring better than them. The opportunities are coming short, but the mids under pressure revert to longer kicks. Happy with Excel coming in this week – he will help a lot.

Ugh it’s gonna be one of those nights.

I’m running out of threads that are bearable.

👋

We’re unacceptable at the moment GW. Obviously every thread is going to have a negative slant.

We are so far behind the best sides it is depressing, seeing the good teams play and we can't even string 3 possessions together.... how are we so bad

They are just confident in their skills and know that they’ll both have players to dispose to, either by foot or hand and where those players will be. A lot because it’s afforded to them because most teams are prioritising scoring and have been for a while.

there isn't. which is actually the scary thing because were we playing either tonight they would tear us to shreds

Darcy has got another opponent out of the game early. Not lethal, but knows how to contact players.

In terms of skill upgrade, bulldogs premiership year was lauded for handball skills and how they could chain them together. It now just looks to be the standard.

Fwds don’t fire it’s a fwd line coach issue.

Sad but true.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
