Reece was working with Jeffo, kicking the ball for Jeffo to mark. Sometimes a high ball marked overhead, sometimes lower for a chest mark. Jeffo seemed fine. He took every mark without issue. He said he no longer has any pain or even a niggle. Before the session I thought it was just wishful thinking on his part that he may be available for this weekend but having watched him train, I’m thinking he might be right. I guess I shouldn’t have called him a delusional [censored]-er 😂 although he thought it was funny.

Omg. I am getting sick of reading everyone complain about the soccer practice.

I tried to stop complaining about it, I really did. Then I watched the game on Friday and now it’s annoying me again.

Id usually say that reeks of desperation. But i think we can all agree, that desperation is where we are all at.

JVR definitely needs to go and i think he'll be back in after kicking a bag at the VFL.

Fritta, i dont think would respond as well in the VFL. i can definitely see him struggling even at that level.

Our FWD line should be Chin, Fullerton, Turner, Kozzy, Trac / Langford, Jeffo.

But the main session is here. It’s at Casey on Thursday. The captain’s run in Adelaide is the usual sch!tts n giggles captain’s run that happens here (at Gosch’s) the day before GameDay

Big thanks to Ghostwriter, Kev Martin and all posters, sounds like all our young brigade in Kolt, Judd, Jeffo and perhaps Lindsay are ready to play but that is bad news on Rick. Still I would rather him get that troublesome ankle sorted out so he can get back to his best. Some tougher calls this week I hope.

Heard Lever is out for 6-8 weeks. No idea if this is a new injury or current ankle injury related.

Just watching ch10 sport & they showed us at training. Trac looked in good spirits even having a laugh.

That won’t last long.

I really don't think they are doing badly because they kick a soccer ball after their PT sessions. It might have more to do with their other training that you don't get to see.

There is a bye this week in VFL. So no-one is going to get any practice.

What are we doing training at Aldi? Surely that's the root cause of our problems then.

It’s been said a million times before, but VFL fixtures are ridiculous, and counter productive to the interests of aligned AFL clubs. Why the (expletive) can’t this mob get their act together?

It's pretty ridiculous to have a bye round now.

Exactly! The flush runs and captain’s runs aren’t serious training sessions. I get sick of saying this. They are half hour sessions with signatures and selfies afterwards. The boys come out from AAMI where they’ve just had a solid weights session or indoor skills session or hydro session among other things, have half an hour of light work, sign autographs etc. then head back to AAMI to continue their personalised training regimes. People need to let the playing soccer thing slide. The boys are super competitive and get a good run and besides that the soccer game is great for their morale.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
