It would be quite logical ( from an outside perspective ) for Reid to move. I sense we haven't even begun to see the outrageous silliness of the Circus main tent yet. The Big Top begets big contracts. Im not thinking the Sqawkers would tip ALL their shekels into one basket..There might be internal resistance to that. Such being possibly the case Tracc ( or similar ) might be more attractive.

Time, as they say will tell.

Christian may well end up staying... but he'll be on a few clubs "interest-list" .

Yeah, but where were the crowds?

So it's no surprise that once a team loses quality midfielders for whatever reason (Gus, Trac, Clarrie) then being able to compete well becomes problematic

It's impossible to replace in a like-for-like manner. Not even close

We need to find a way to become a contender again with or without Petracca & Oliver

In an ideal world both return to their best and we get on with the business

If both go, it's going to take a bit of time to compete properly again (factoring in the loss of Gus as well)

How would Gold Coast go without Rowell, Miller & Anderson all down on their best (or unavailable)

I used to hate blaming injuries but not when A Grade talent is at play

They and we are stuck with each other unless they agree to reduce their contracted salaries.

Of course if they have a stellar year for MFC in 2026 the equation could change at the end of that year as it would with increases in the TPP cap and the length left on their contracts

Hawthorn are the ideal club to do a deal with as they have plenty of cap space to do a deal.

They also have a nice draft hand with picks 6 and 24.

We need them to bomb out this year, so the need to top up is greater.

In terms of support, we are a not a big club but we often go close to maximising our crowd numbers

It would take decades for us to catch up with the big clubs and we'd also need lots of sustained on field success

We just don't have the supporter numbers and that period from 1965 to 1986 killed off any chance of being a big club

Same sort of thing happened to South, North, Fitzroy, St Kilda & Bulldogs. All the small clubs are competing in the one City up against the big boys

You've got to win and contend consistently through the decades and that's what the big clubs have done

We've had too many wilderness years as support is often passed on through the generations

So in other words, what did Petracca expect? Collingwood type numbers?

It does seem very plausible, although on an emotional level not sure I'm ready for this possibility. If it was something Trac or the MFC was considering, he would have mentioned that ("sources say" etc.).

At trade time, journalists are hell-bent on coming up with ideas for trades that fill their columns, articles, podcasts, TV segments and radio shows.

He's run with this on First Crack and in the paper on a Sunday night, which feeds perfectly into the Monday night TV shows - watch this get raised on The Agenda Setters, On the Couch or Footy Classified tonight.

Funny thing is his First Crack Colleague in Kingy has been calling out for Goodwin to try the young brigade through the middle. You cannot make this [censored] up. Now i have my personal opinion's on Trac's trade but in direct reference to the First Crack, this is becoming meat and potatoes journalism.

To the heart of the trade scenario. Hawks were preparing to go after Reid with a treasure trove of picks. It is appearing more unlikely to happen now and with Day's foot issues, they are in dire need of a another prime midfielder. I do think Trac to Hawks actually makes sense. Previously i called for their first pick (tied to Carlton) - but given Day's injury and Reid likely to stay, it puts Hawthorn in a rather precarious situation. I think we play hard ball and try to extract 2 first rounders.

We just have to be proactive, to regenerate this list. If we can get Lever to North / Doggies and Trac to Hawks and get ourselves 2-3 additional picks in the top 10-20 over the next 2 years. We will be very well placed to challenge towards the end of this decade.

we get hawks first rounder tied to Carlton and they take on his full salary. Best deal we can reasonably expect

I think BP5 only stays if he sees himself winning at least another flag with us. If he were to move on however does anyone really see Hawthorn taking on the final four years of his contract? Anyone that hits thirty at that place are usually year by year propositions. It will definitely be to a side in regular contention though.

Trac's contract isn't in the same league as Oliver's which reaches $1.7m by end of contract.

Trac is in the top 3 impact players at the dees this year. He has no baggage. In the top 3-5 in the league on a number of metrics. Versatile positions. So Hawks or any other team should pay full value to us and to Trac.

A hypothetical trade to Hawks should be 2 first round picks: Carlton's 1st this year, a future 1st and they take his full salary.

Clark doesn't have a clue and trying to stay relevant.

No doubt decisions need to be made on list mgt and to trade in experienced talent not to mention the footy dept & coaches, all the talk has been from President to Coach that Oliver & Trac will remain and no talk of trading them … to flip on this would leave egg on the face of Goodwin but hey he did say how much they valued Grundy!

Why are these managers getting these players to sign long term deals then expect the club to work out a trade and still get paid the same, if a player wants out they should negotiate a new contract and not burden the club!

He's 29. We'd be happy for Carltons first - that Hawthorn have. I doubt we'd even get that. In saying that, Hawthorn don't strike me as a draft side. They've had quality picks, squandered them, and are still where they are. Petracca fits well with their trajectory.

Can't see us trading Trac for a single pick, not sure his age is too relevant for the Hawks who are in the window

Hawks traded a first, second, third round pick for Barrass who is the same age with much much worse durability issues

Think Trac is being undersold...by Dees supporters!
