That's the million dollar question.

I am fairly certain either his or Bella's family have a property in Noosa, which makes the lure to the GC make sense.

I really have no idea why SA would appeal, unless he has some opportunities lined up with his social media work around Barossa for example.

I also don't think that success at either GC or Adelaide is anymore promised than it is at Melbourne.

Perhaps Hawthorn is still his ultimate hope, but again, knowing what we want in return means he understands the likelihood of that happening is low.

All in all nothing about this trade makes sense to me. I would think a new line coach, senior coach, CEO and president is a pretty damn good fresh start for a player.

Forcing players to stay generally doesn't happen often and again can be very detrimental all around.

If Merrett is out of play and the Hawks turn their attention to Tracc, would Lewis and the Hawks' Carlton pick of 8 I think it is, be of interest to us, doing away with the need for Mihocek and giving us that tall key forward we all want? Given Lewis would probably not be a first round pick with his injuries and non certainty of Hawks selection, then maybe a later pick is thrown in, which we could use to upgrade 8 or take another player. Lewis is bigger and younger than Mihocek.

I hope the Hawthorn or Goldcoast footy club don't read this but I think Trac has regressed each year post 2021 and if we have an opportunity to get good value out of him we should do it

Love your work Jaded but GC and Adelaide are a lot closer to success than Melbourne. I'll be surprised if GC doesn't win at least one flag in the next 5 years and Petracca plus Rankine in that Adelaide team probably means at least GF this year.

Hawthorn should have a fair amount of salary cap space. 8 & F2 if they take all of Petracca's salary, 8 & F1 if we have to pay some. I'd imagine we would have floated similar deals to them and said "forget the Merrett drama, this deal is on the table now".

I'm curious why Trac has changed his tune about which teams he's open to going to, isn't he super close to his family? is he trying to get away from them by going interstate or is just he's looking at the market and realising the only way he gets to play finals at a team that could have a chance of doing a deal is going interestate?

Hang on a tick, I'll ask someone who he has spoken to about this matter........awkward pause of six months.....

I would be surprised if Trac is still playing in 5 years.

But nothing in life is guaranteed. In 2018 we probably thought we were not far from a flag. In 2020 we thought we were miles off it.

The point I am making is that while GC have talent through the roof, they just made their first finals series. They have a stench of Freo about them, and have not shown anything to guarantee success. A talented list doesn't always mean success. We know that.

And Adelaide are going to really miss Tex and now with Burgess leaving, who knows where they'll land. They showed in finals how far off they were. 8 straight quarters lost against two teams that flatlined in prelims against better midfields, shows you that their issues are not simply resolved by Trac and/or Rankine.

Gettable suggests Tracc to the Crows for their pick 14 and next years 1st.

They appeared serious - what a joke. As if!!

No chance in hell we should take two average 18 year olds… at least Flanders is established and you know what you get at AFL level.

Kozzy is #2 at our club behind Max.

Kozzy should be #1 by next season.

Well 2nd B&F & 2nd highest Brownlow votes suggest otherwise

Again Trac isn’t our best player.

Just putting it out there.

1) take-off any rose coloured glasses when evaluating the worth of any player. Like any market he will be worth whatever convinces a deal to transact.

2) picks DO NOT need to be used per se.. They are currency. They can be on traded/used or banked( depending on what draft they apply )

Point being.... think outside the box folks.

I doubt either club is basing their list management decisions on your posting mate.

Are you sure, I’m sure the list managers use Demonland as their bible 😂😂

I hope they are. Most of us have no idea.

Jeelong could be. Why do you think they're always top 4?

It isn't abundantly clear whether King and trac have had a meeting yet although i get the sense this is yet to occur.

If he still wants to go after talking with King i'll be disappointed but more comfortable with him leaving.

I think king will want him to stay and will convince him to stay.

You do realise Adelaide finished 15 last year? It’s not unrealistic to think that dees can has a similar tune around

Should we reference what we got from Carlton for Barassi as well?

Nothing.

“And so my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country”

These are our highest paid players. We have a new president, CEO, and coach. About time we put the pressure back on them.

Watching unfiltered Luke Hodge on the hawks journey & 3 peat .. it’s chalk & cheese of the different culture between our clubs

The clown show of Beveridge and Twomey want to continually try to push up the trades of Petracca and Oliver. They have zero interest in club loyalty as they hunt for the trade scenarios and how they can click bait through Gettable on the AFL app/website.

Trac to the Crows for pick 14 (pick 19-20 after academy’s/father son) and a 2026 1st round (again likely pick 18-19 likely). No way !! That’s the Dees getting shafted. Trac needs to stay. The Dees need him and I’m sure King has plans to get a Dangerfield type role for Trac !!

Doess anybody really want to see Trac running around in another club jumper and winning games against us? I doubt it.

In a purely playing sense, Petracca is Barassi in another era. That is not undervaluing Barassi who was a Captain an multiple premiership player and coach. It's simply a like for like playing wise in another era.

Many parallels with Barassi, except that Barassi left in the dead of night, with no compensation. No doubt Christian is holding off before deciding whether Steven King can lead MFC back to the promised land.
