I think an organisation of any type would be sensitive to health of an employee and the stress it places on a family. Add to this the role of an Italian family and the way they work as a family. It was a workplace incident.

We need to move past this idea that footy is a ‘man’s’ game and everyone should toughen the F up. If Trac was my family, I’d ask a few questions and lose trust in the club and its medical staff.

im sure the club has invited the family into the rooms and facilities and encouraged them to play a role over the years. You can’t have it both ways…

And that's how you end up with tantrum throwing adults.
Yes it was a workplace incident, a football accident.
Part of the reason footballers get to sign 7mill contracts.
No you can't have it both ways.

You taking the p-i-s-s right?

Trac wants out and from what I’ve heard, Oliver should be shoved out. JVR is being wasted and will be considering his position. Kos will ask a trade at years end- book mark it. We do not rotate the best 22, unless injuries force our hand, so fringe players leave. Been happening a while. Not sure why I’m taking the [censored]. Coach, players and coaching staff are taking the [censored].

Gawn to the Cats too? They need a ruck

As bad as it sounds. IF AND ONLY IF HE WAS OK WITH IT, what would you trade him to the cats or a pies in 2026 if we were bottom 3 again. 2nd rounder?

Is Oliver well liked in the playing group? He seems more liked than Petracca.

I was really hoping for a second chance at Jackson coming back the other way on a kosi trade but that's not happening now for sure.

Oliver is tolerated. Not sure you’d spend time with him if you didn’t have to. Most players his age are married with kids, so have less in common.

ive always thought Petracca came off as a bit aloof toward the others in the last couple of years. we may never know but it seems like there's some issues around both of them.

Still, they helped us win the flag and trac was a brilliant norm smith medallist that day in 21.

You would've thought we would learn after losing Bedford and Jordon due to this. Not that they are world beaters, but thats 2 x, what would easily be now, best 22 players we allegedly wanted to keep gone due to poor selection decisions.

Now it sounds like we have disgruntled senior and fringe players with a potential exodus on our hands. Can't exactly see too many people rushing to join our club either. How could this be managed so poorly?

Great news.

Keep Petracca and trade Oliver.

That might be the way it’s heading.

This is good. He didn’t have to do this so it’s a good and unexpected surprise from Trac.

No thanks.

The article posted is the article written, irrespective of who admins the group

I’m relatively new here (2017), so I’m not across the issues with the admin of that FB group

Haha that group is the one that our very own past acquaintance in Lord Nev runs.

Dictator 'Nev' is probably best that describes him.. the guy is an absolute Muppet.

Someone on a different group has posted screenshots of the article. I’d post them here but it’s probably illegal (and for some reason screenshots are too much data for this site).

But yeah, the language is very direct in saying that Trac intends to stay with the club for the length of his contract.

Thanks for the link. Interesting reading.

From the article, this caught my eye:

"... minimal contact between coach Simon Goodwin and Petracca’s parents since his injury, but Goodwin had spoken with them in the past month".

Wondering if it coincidence that Petracca has pulled out of the AFL investigation and strongly committed to the club now that Goodwin started mending fences?

I'm bogsmacked that someone who preaches unity, love etc has let this go for so long.

I think we will see the Trac of old now that burden lifted and he has put that chapter behind him.

I applaud him for the maturity to get to this point.

The fact that they keep mentioning the relationship between player and coach remains strong is what catches my eye. I wonder if they had a falling out?

why do we assume that goodwin wasn't reaching out to the petracca and has, prior to the last month or so, been rebuffed?

he's not petracca's family - he's his coach

the stories around the petracca family's approach to their son's career are plentiful and they sound like they require a lot of special care and attention

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
