Also incorrect.

And also highly highly unlikely that we will move Clarry's entire salary if he does move, especially if we go down the route of framing this as a fire sale. Unless you are happy to trade him for a fourth round pick.

I never mentioned Oliver. I don't jump at the shadows thrown up by others unless the shadows become substantiated matter.

Its all positioning now, we want the best deal we can for Petracca, the MFC line will be if the right deal doesn't come he is playing for melbourne, but we also recognise we need to change our midfield up and if the Petracca deal doesn't get done trading Oliver becomes an option.

I just know that his family has a very direct and open line of communication to Tom Morris

I’d like everyone to take a moment to just think about this, what it likely has meant for the last 18 months, and the very specific video made by the club about the coaching announcement. - and how that information wasn’t leaked (because no players were aware except Gawn).

I think it explains a lot about how we got here, and why we are moving forward the way we are.

Don't think we can blame every thing we don't like on Trac.

i know but i want to,would be so much fun

What a media beat up, so player meets his new coach…. And the assumption is he’s gone!

Yeah, I suppose all players will be leaving as they ALL will be meeting with King in next few days. Unbelievable what these Journo's get up to, and they actually get paid! With Oliver I can only assume that King will reiterate what his game plan looks like and where Oliver fits into that. Oliver has stated, through his agent he loves the club and wants to prove a point next season. Unless King actually tells him to move on, he is staying and will have a blinder with us next season.

Kosi next?

Wonder how he feels about losing (what once was/could possibly be again) top end talent, he's locked himself away for a long time here.

Or quite possibly, let's be honest, the man isn't really calling the shots he is being "handled" and I reckon if anything like that was going on the other boys in the club would have gotten pretty jack of it pretty quickly. Something has happened to make him want to move, and it could very well be something to do with this whole dynamic that's going on.

The dude was literally coasting this year waiting to get out. When pressed many times to make statements suggesting he is still buying into the red and the blue, he always replied with things like 'football is still my passion.'

Wondered if he had just fallen out of love with football or the club.

But reportedly wasn't happy when told we were moving towards a rebuild, wasn't happy with cultural issues being ignored until they exploded publically and wasn't happy with the club tweeting he would be back in six to eight weeks while he was getting a blood infusion. Those were the more public suggested reasons.

Also its been going around that there is a bit of a rift between senior players.

I think this is a bit different, just like with Steven May Oliver is being told to look at his options elsewhere

But ... Imagine we go into this trade period being an implied basket case and walk out of it offloading both Tracc and Oliver and adding two to three players with speed/both way running on the age demographic of Windsor et all.

You almost wonder whether that was why Judd leaving stung.

If there is nothing in the latest rumour (and it seems to me to be fanciful) then I'd like to see our CEO or coach get on a call to those perpetuating it and tearing strips off them.

My MFCSS is now reaching epic levels. What are we doing? If the list management team has established stars in its sights, then ok…but this now smells of a full scale rebuild, which does not align with the vision Guerra and King came to supporters with less than a week ago. An off season where we lose McVee, Tracc and Clarry and bring in mediocre picks will be just about the end for many supporters. Memberships already down 20%. If we are like Richmond, we will be back on the doldrums.

With his salary?

I don’t think he would give two 💩

Did it ever occur to you that this might have more to do with our salary cap?

Just throw in a block of land in Brighton and an ambassadorial role with Rolls Royce. Fixed.

100%

Wonder if he's sitting back thinking 'wtf?' Or....'about time!'

I'm torn here (like many I suspect) that the likes of Trac, Clarry and May were absolute heroes in 2021. Pivotal in breaking the drought. The idea of them all departing 4 years later would have seemed an absolute nightmare / doomsday scenario in 2021-2022.

At the same time, it seems (for whatever reason) Trac wants out, maybe (and maybe not) Clarry is more trouble than he's worth (May might be in a similar boat).

I'm torn because the pain, disappointment and frustration of the last 3 years is probably pushing me to want change for changes sake. And as some people say it is very hard to get A graders into a football club - we might not fully understand what we've got till its gone.

At the same time, I can see with some astute trading and drafting, this could unlock a new successful era - there are plenty of promising kids on our list. We add a few more this year, play an attractive game style with dare, front load the contracts so that we have a war chest, and go hard in future for free agency players.

I look at the hawks and their midfield (without Day) doesn't really have any stars. They go alright!

So I'm torn.

King would meet every player and outline his expectations of the player no matter what the players name is

Exactly. The fact that Dannyz is also aware of a scheduled meeting means that the leak has come from within the club, not from a player manager.

Posters on here constantly blame the media for destabilising the club. Some are even blaming Trac's management ffs. The perception of the club being a basket case is vindicated with all the leaks.

It's little wonder that we can't recruit anyone decent from another club.

The Morris stuff seems to be straight from the Oliver camp. Dannyz might be just following up to the panicked reporting.

But either way after 2 years of this exact drama why are we following up with a 3rd?

What could possibly be so important to tell Clarry that’s worth the drama? We’ve seen the last 2 years when he gets put up for trade he responds terribly and then the club look like absolute morons.

I can’t imagine there’s any kind of specific role for Oliver other than maybe more of a defensive focus, and either way he has to get fitter and use the ball less horrifically.

Nothing that can’t be hashed out in 3 weeks when it’s not trade radio silly season.

So far up to 0, I guess you’re counting the extra picks and maybe Flanders?

I’m sure that’s the plan and exactly why Judd leaving hurts but geez, would be nice to be linked to at least one quality runner coming in.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca

The superstar Demon midfielder made a successful return to the fold after his devastating injury last year and the subsequent fallout from the treatment he received, during which time he sought to depart the club. Petracca's professionalism and strong play, both in the midfield and up forward, were outstanding and resulted in him being runner-up in the club's best and fairest count. However, early this week, the club's new CEO, Paul Guerra, confirmed that the under-contract Petracca has again requested a trade, adding that he would only be allowed to leave for a “quality offer that turns our head". No doubt some Demon heads are already spinning.

The former first-round draft selection experienced an average second season, marked by participation in several VFL games, as well as three matches in which he was subbed out. He is nevertheless, a highly regarded talent capable of playing on the wing or behind the ball, with additional aspirations of developing into a centre square midfielder over time.
