surely the suns wouldn’t actually let Humphrey go… surely…

I wouldn't go, but if he wants to come back to melbourne we'll have the most money, King coached him at Suns, pies and carlton are about to fall off a cliff and we can do the trade on day 1 if he is open.

Where are we in relation to the cliff?

We have it the bottom only to discover it was a false bottom and are continuing falling. Oh and it’s now a cave in too.

Getting Humphrey in is only half of the equation. Need something for Gold Coast back the other way.

I think what I feel most disappointed by is the fact that Clarry loves club. I don't know if I could say the same about Trac now. I think I'd prefer a heart n soul player than a player half in half out.

I do really just hope they challenged Oliver to add strings to his bow, and that he'll have a point to prove to the new coach. Or, he'll move clubs, then prove that point by tearing us a new one when we play him!

In summary:

  • Trac not invested, wants to leave, we probably want to (and possibly will) keep him.

  • Oliver loves club, doesn't want to leave, we want to shift him on.

  • May/Judd...NFI what's the go there.

May's white line fever will be missed "on the field".

I wonder if he forget to tone that down sufficiently once the siren blew.

Then there was Entrecote and the B&F loose lips incident. Was the on-field calling out of Maxy possibly the third strike that broke the camel's back in the eyes of some?

I'm hoping this thread is quieter today

I can't have another low productivity day otherwise i'll be working the weekend to catch-up

I understand that King, Guerra, Lamb etc are all thinking about the best interests of the club, but when you lose arguably 2 of your most liked players amongst the fan base (Pickett and Gawn probably the most liked) you're going to see a dip in membership. If we start with a similar 0-5 next year with another bottom 8 finish, I can almost guarantee you we'll have the smallest membership number in Vic by the end of 2026.

And the opposite might also be true - some want to see the joint cleaned up - resulting in retention or an up lift in membership.

Don't count on it. I'd expect Trac will nominate a club today or tomorrow, if not the media will create a story out of thin air

I don't think he'll nominate until he knows there is a path to get there that we are willing to unlock. I suggest part of that will be dependent on Flanders intent and/or convincing Humphrey and Suns openness to it.

I also wonder how quickly Merrett declares Hawks (or not) and whether that throws a late spanner in the works.

Anything happened yet ??

Even if Petracca wants to go to Adelaide it's probably pointless nominating them. He has to accept he's going to Gold Coast.

no news from my little sheet rack always has the good goss she never irons so is easy to spot always looks wrinkly especially her sheet

No offense to my beloved club, but why the [censored] would Humphrey come to us?

Let’s say in some dream world Gold Coast are willing to trade him for Trac because they’re high, why would Humphrey choose to play for us and not say the Pies, who play in front of 80,000+ each week, rarely travel and just made another prelim?

Yes you definitely want to drive to Casey, play in Alice, enjoy Sunday night time slots and have mids kick over your head. It’s the dream!

I think this is very much it. A lot of these movements whilst the intent may be clear.. the pathways aren't. Might be one of those years ( again ) where there's a mad scramble near the end. So often these trade 🎪 need a domino to fall early... or it gets very murky.

Still..... crossed fingers and toes 👍

Well, we're about to see who's really keen about who.

Buckle up

Trac has officially nominated and requested a trade to the Gold Coast Suns.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
