Me too although I think they’ll stick with Howes.

Yeah, imagine all the doom and gloomers who have been shouting from the roof tops if we win!
They know who they are!

There forever waiting in anticipation to prove the naysayers wrong. Which camp are you?

I think we could play:

Howes May Petty

Bowey/Salem Adams Windsor

When was the last time Lever, May and Salem played cracker games as a backline? Especially Salem...

You wouldn't find a more overrated player on our list then Salem.

Adds nothing other then useless dinky 20m switch kicks.

Great servant but I'd be looking at trading him for a pick in the draft.

Who on earth would take him? Richmond maybe? But we are not getting anything more than a 3rd round pick. Which for this years draft is probably sufficient.

A lot of talk from Goodwin about a strong review and expect a responce, not where we want to be blah blah blah this week against the cats.

Will be very interesting to c how the players go considering how pathetic our responce was last week after the belting against North.

Our responce or lack there of will tell us a lot about the players and coach.

Agree with this. Hasn’t really fired a shot since the grand final and has tallied a meagre 8 brownlow votes compared to Josh Kelly who’s had about 95.

Agreed. He was sorely missed when injured and it was good to have him fit and firing in 2021, as he became a key part of our success. Had an outstanding 2021 GF. He kept us in the game before Trac and co took over and won it.

But Salem is overrated now as a good ball user. His kicks are mainly chip kicks either - slow and sideways 15 metres OR slow and forwards 15 metres, or he kicks it 35 metres up and under and in the clouds making it easy to defend. Disposal efficiency can be ok when you are slow and do 15 metre safe kicks. He takes too long to dispose of the footy. It allows the defence to set up. Also twice on the weekend he handballed directly to Suns players on the weekend (specsavers) . Salem is one player who needs the 240volts shock treatment of intensity to lift !!!

Always tough to win down the road in Geelong. However, over the last 10 matches we are 5-5. Add to that the fact that the Cats are not travelling all that well either and you would think we might be a chance.

Goody put the pressure on with a demand for a response from the team. All well and good but possibly a week late. We were all whimper and no bang last game following on from a thrashing the week before. There has to be doubt about the players ability to respond. A repeat of the team performance of the last two weeks on Friday night will really put the media blowtorch fairly and squarely on all aspects of MFC footy department and rightly so.

Leadership needs to step up. Off ground starting with selection and on ground starting with Gawn and the senior players.

Match selectors need to start with a blank sheet of paper and look to play players that are fit, in form and ready to commit. Forget reputations, Forget what they have done in the past. Look at what they are doing now, week to week in the games, MFC or Casey, and put together a team that will attack the ball and the contest with bit of vigor and determination. This last couple of weeks there have been too many putting half hearted efforts chasing, contesting and tackling.

Select and play to our strengths. Windsor and Langdon are class wingers. Play them there for 80% of their game time at least. Same with Petracca, 80% mid, Rivers, 80% back.

Leaders on the ground leading from the front. Doing the hard yards, supporting and chastising when required. Demanding a standard of performance.

I want the Dees to win but my expectations of a win are bery, very pow.

Go Dees

Don’t think he is rated that highly by Dees fans but he is averaging 25 touches at over 70% efficiency

Not sure he is the primary issue with our list right now but keep digging away

Of course they're over 70%.. they're simply junk possession that go sideways 20m to a teammate.

He has zero hurt factor and barely provides any run off half back.

There is zero use to averaging 25 disposals per game if you do absolutely nothing with them. Stop getting caught up on what you read as simple easy stats.

His defensive efforts are complete garbage. Watch last weeks game, his attempts to chase are laughable, especially for a backman.

Accumulates cheap stats these days. I respect him for his past contribution, but he is either done or simply needs to work harder.

Salem had 20 possessions v Suns. Metres gained 240 !! Many junk slow sideways kicks He needs to do better. Quicker and more positive movement ASAP

Compare to Daniel Rioli with 20 possessions (80% DE) and Bodhi Uwland with 15 possessions who gained 400 metres (93%DE). Run and carry and forward positive movement

Coach Simon - please take heed of such simple advice

I was simply replied to your claim as Salem being the most overrated player by Dees fans.

I don’t think he is amazing. He will not be Rioli breaking lines, he has always kicked little dinky kicks. He plays his role.

Don't like your odds. He's only done it twice since the 21 GF.

But its more the lack of defensive pressure and inability to get the ball that sees him woefully out of form. In a system based game its cancerous if one player cant tackle or play a defensive role.

I hope you're right but if Goodwin doesn't drop him it sends a crud signal to everyone else. Selection integrity out the window yet again

No, just play him close to goal

That is what his real job is

Goodwin is spending too much time playing guys in new positions

Play to your strengths….

Actually, Salem used to often kick 40 metre flat kicks. And he was formerly far more decisive with his disposals

In the first half in the 2021 GF, Salem was responsible for 5 x Inside 50 entries with those same 40 metre flat passes

We haven't really seen it much since so I don't know what has happened to his game

McVee fills part of the void when fit and Rivers isn't too bad on occasions

We really need to get some fast drive forward from our half back line. And that's not a new thing either has many of the premiership teams through the decades have possessed that quick drive from the half backline

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
