Another pleasant day of a "non-organised" Captain's Run - no drills, no soccer - just mooching.

Absent: From the 23 (plus emergencies named) Lever. Other absentees: McVee, Tholstrup, Jefferson, Hore, Kentfield.

Spargo arrived late, and whilst not named on Selwyn's injury list this week, the rumour is that he sufferred a concussion last Sunday.

Windsor had his boots on and was doing some kicking with Selwyn, so I'd reckon he is a good chance for next week - don't think he was testing for tomorrow!

No Casey players today - just all the AFL listed players.

And at around 10.45 am the AFLW team were heading out for a run on Gosch's.

He was actually shown as injured in the list of outs when the team was named, yesterday.

Presuming Lever is out

Would we be tempted to debut Mentha? Or simply bring back in Howes (underwhelming) or Disco (back to defence?)

Players in some doubt during the week often miss the Captain’s Run, could just be an “off” feet thing with Lever. Hoping anyway.

That's the conundrum, isn't it. I'd take TMac in defence with Petty and May over Disco. Can they bring in another non-emergency player? Because if it's out of Howes or Mentha, I'm probably taking Ricky.

We're desperate for leg speed and aggression, even if Ricky is a bit fresh to the system I think he will help our drive off HB. After seeing Saad EH debut for Essendon, it could be an exciting option to debut a speedster too.

If Lever is out TMac comes off the bench into the starting back 6 and Disco comes out of the Emergencies to replace him on the bench and play forward. Tall out - tall in.

that only leaves 6 backs need a 7th

Maybe so. However, I'm not sure TMac was in the team for playing in the forward line - I suspect Lever was doubtful and Tom was insurance. If Disco was dropped, I'm not sure that Lever's omission is the reason to bring him back in. Especially if it's going to rain with swirling winds 35km/h. I'd have the 4 key forwards (1 interchange) as JVR, AJ, Fritta and Melksham. Mentha for sub for me (as much as it pains me for a debutant).

I thought the mood was serious, business to do, focus quite inner for the group.

They were a little late heading out and the expectations were palpable.

Sestan, Brown, Fullarton, and Woey on the far side of oval near where Green was hanging out.

Kossie and Mentha hanging out, Kossie brought his child out on the grass.

Tracc first to see bubs.

Good sounds, some near misses, plenty hitting the goal.

Melky hanging around goals, on target.

Howes in for Lever

Just confirmed,

Sesto to emergency.

Fact

Great to see Sestan in the emergencies, we need some precise kicking off HB and career wise it's time we see if we can make it or not.

Shouldn't that be Disco? Sorry but Howes is a fair way off at the moment. The oppo will look to run it through his man a fair bit me thinks.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
