This. We’re 3 goals down at the start of the last and to see Clarry on the bench and Trac at full forward had me totally flummoxed. I mean surely we had to try and win some centre clearance and give ourselves a chance to gain some momentum! That looked a tad arrogant to me, anybody able to help me understand the coaches thinking?

They wanted Trac forward, Oliver on the bench may have just been a rotation thing. Honestly if we always need Oliver and Trac in the center then we'll go no where this year.

I have no inside info other than to say they are not the players they were. Not sure they ever will be again, at least at Melbourne anyway.

FFS these 2 at late 20’s should be in their prime physically and mentally! They are both pulling big $, sorry but what’s the excuse?

If they want Trac forward should we be getting minutes into Langford? How’d he go today?

Very lack lustre , non spirited performance by the Dee’s, it was like Chandler and Clarry were the only ones out there.

Not sure about Harry Sharp , hasn't impressed me at all.

That second tier after , Clarry Viney and Trac , are just too inconsistent, guys like Sparrow and Rivers just aren’t standing up.

We really miss Kozzie, May and Windsor as they give us a bit of spark.

But to lose like that to North Melbourne is pathetic and very worrying.

Sparrow was good last week, didn't give much today. Riv has had a poor start to the season.

Why you asking me?

Apparently played pretty well, improving as the game went on and had a strong last qtr.

Beggars can’t be choosers. Many supporters every year don’t get to attend the GF.

I got to watch it on TV with my Dad, next best thing to being there.

Decent, like 23 touches and 1 goal 2 behinds

Sorry I misread your post as that you had some info or a theory. I myself am somewhat discombobulated after today’s debacle!

This is...odd?

It might be true and I wish Max all the best with whatever he may be dealing with but Goodwin should not have said this. There is no point other than to make excuses, Max dealing with other issues doesn't create a 10 goal loss. He obviously won't go into any further details so it is pointless even raising it. It's just deflection.

Here's a thought. Maybe we could buy Oscar Piastri's contract from McLaren so he could play down forward. At least he knows how to LEAD!

The result would have been a different score at the ‘G. We may have been beaten.
Quite happy with the ‘21 smashing thankyou

But it was 4 years ago, and we are regressing since then

He's an ok young key forward, but he has always struggled to create separation. Our kicking to him a part of that but he doesn't know how or when to lead. Doesn't quite have the burst the best forwards have, and beyond that doesn't kick goals enough ways to be a 50-60 goal a year forward. If he isn't getting set shots, he's not in the play.

Has time, but needs to start improving.

Perhaps, I dunno, we should get a retired key forward in to teach him how to play the role (some call that "coaching")

That’s ok.
I just think the media and supporters haven’t caught up yet that young guns from other teams are coming hard at them and they have both had problems the past few years. You gotta be very lucky to be a star year on year regardless of talent.

Caleb Windsor on crutches in this clip 😬

Yeah he was on crutches walking around the concourse at halftime. I didn't think much of it, obviously trying to limit any pressure on the foot.

One of the more bizarre press conferences you'll see

Do we play at that [censored] again this year? Hopefully not.

West Coast sometime in July/Aug

I am quite angry with today's insipid performance.

The Kangaroos totally dominated us. It was humiliating!

The Demons membership department won't be getting many calls this week!

Hard to come up with any positives from this hot mess of a game.

A few of my observations:

- Our much vaunted midfield, Max included got handed a beating.

- Our defence got handed a beating.

- Our forwards, except for Chandler, are still trying to find the ground let alone the ball.

- No teamwork or connection.

- Little evidence of any on-ground leadership.

Where to from here? the coaches do not sound like they have any answers. Giving the team a collective cuddle and making them feel loved does not look like an effective gameplan.

We could try goal kicking practice and a bit of endurance training. we missed a lot of kickable goals today and looked to run out of (interest and) puff in the last quarter.

Looking forward to less of a mess next week.

I can live in hope.

Feels like wheels are falling off after round 2. That talk in Bright was better spent maybe doing a 2km time trial. Because they didn’t look like a team on the ground today.

I make it nine players gone from our premiership team and can’t find a player we have recruited since who would have taken anyone’s place. Happy to be wrong and missed someone.

Goodwin is an expert in saying a lot of nothing, can't stomach his pressers specially after a loss.

Agreed. Are there any players today that you’d be confident to consistently hit a target inside 50 though?

Lots to say, watched late as not living in Aus, but I read Goodwin's comments on Gawn and I am disgusted. What an absolutely pathetic attempt at deflecting away from his own rubbish coaching performance. Get ready for a week of questions into Max's personal life now. Max has never, ever been the type to discuss things like this and Goodwin throws him under the bus.

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
