The MFC is famous for pulling the trigger too early and contracting too long on coaching and player side.

We are too nice and quite often pay the price.

Ruthlessness is not in our DNA bar roughly Nov 2020 through late 2021. Then we seemingly got comfortable with our lot and resumed normal programing.

Possibly earlier. There's no denying the last two games have been dreadful. If at some stage Goody loses the players' faith THEN he should go. I'm not sure they have yet.

sometimes I think players and coaches would actually benefit from reading these forums and the comments…not often, but a harsh reality check isn’t always a bad thing. Get out of your bubbles every now and then and read what everyone is saying. I know we all think the media are a pack of [censored] but they generally just say what’s going on.

In the last 28 years we've done it four times. So I would say reasonably good.

I would guess most fans don't care about love-ins and whether we are "getting around Goody/Richo" with a Kumbaya Culture Titan.

Bottom line, most would probably just wanna see a maniacal never say die white line fever effort from the 22 that run out week in week out for four quarters regardless of injuries, off field issues and any other extraneous factors.

The last two weeks have been anything but, aside from a few personal exceptions in an individual sense player wise.

Unaccountable, amateurish footy has crept into the group and it's completely unneceptable.

Even Simon jumped in there with the nonsense Max comments. Amateur stuff from the leader with the Cap having to cover for him and try to explain it in the press afterwards.

The is not presently an AFL footy team. It's a rabble seemingly in free fall looking on.

And Brad's still talking finals! My god. Talk about deluded. How about we just try and get this week right!

I wonder where we would be if we got the points rd1? We have always been pretty fragile as a club mentally. That shot of confidence having beaten GWS could of been massive for the players. Since then they look pathetic and the opposition feed off it.

Unless Simon Goodwin can salvage a miracle to save his coaching career there will be a few possibilities for the next Demons coach.

1) John Longmire probably at the top of that list. Would definitely be keen to get him.

2) Justin Leppitsch is another possibility. Done some great work as an assistant coach at both Richmond and Collingwood after an unsuccessful stint at Brisbane.

3) Then Adam Simpson. He is a former Premiership coach after all.

4) Then Ken Hinkley. Who will be looking for a new job at the end of this season.

5) Unlikely, Nathan Buckley, who is probably keen on the Tasmanian Devils job.

6) Lastly, Luke Beveridge if the Bulldogs don't make the finals.

None of us is privy to what the review thought of Goodwin. The fact that they thought he needed to lighten up or have his stress levels reduced indicates to me that he was under some fair scrutiny. Who knows if the same issues are still there then he may well not see to his contract.

I have to ask though, what value is there in getting rid o hime now. Who would be the interim and how could they improve performance given the coaching group are all pushing the same message or should be. All the coaches should be on the same page so how will sacking Goody change the narrative?

The board usually get a coaches report or update for each meeting. I am sure they wouldn't be happy just as we aren't but what improvements or areas of improvement are they looking for. Both beyond the pay scale of us supporters

As much as ppl would hate it. James Hird has to be an option. I think he is a good blend of football brain and modern coach with a good read on the modern game. I reckon he would have an impact similar to Mitchell if he was given the chance.

What ever he done at Essendon was in the past and he has paid for his indiscretions.

I think it depends on the reason we are performing so poorly.

For me it’s probably the playing group more than it is Goody.

He hasn't coached in years! I think he is Port Melbourne's Football Manager in the VFL now besides doing media work.

I highly doubt James Hird would be an option. Let alone be interested.

Anyway, I am not calling for Simon Goodwin to be sacked now. But he has until the end of this season to show improvement to keep his job. All the players and coaching staff are under scrutiny. Winning is what matters in this cut throat AFL industry.

While Simon Goodwin is a much loved person for breaking our Premiership drought of 57 years at the Demons, we need to make some ruthless decisions at the end of this season if we keep heading in our current trajectory.

I am not happy to discuss these scenarios, but we have to be realistic too. We need to be in the business of winning Premierships. That is what matters!
