I don't get the love for Sharp.

Other then a run down tackle he was barely noticed. Jack Henderson showed more then him.

Honestly, if his name was Jack Billings he'd be copping a pasting for that type of performance.

I don't think we'll make any changes to be honest. I'd prefer not to see Sharp and especially Chandler who is just so meh for a small forward. He does nothing for me.

I'd be looking at Kynan Brown for either of them.

Sharp player the lowest amount of game time too. Indicative of the coaches not loving his game. Doesn’t seem to find the footy and doesn’t have cosistrnt defensive game

Thought Chandler was fine, some good and bad. I like his back up wing minutes.

Not a huge fan of Kynan Brown but no doubt everyone should be considered for the role.

Surprised nobody has suggested giving Tom Campbell a go next week given the potential AJ suspension and his struggles in the ruck when Max was resting in the 4th.

I know this will be howled down but TMac is too good to not have in the 22. If May comes back I’d be moving Petty forward. AJ was poor in the ruck against Brown and JvR is much better. Jeffo has no intensity and I’d prefer Turner and Petty to AJ and Jeffo.
If Spargs is ready he’s a class above Hendo.
Wont happen, but that’s my take.

There’s no way in the world Petty should go forward. I appreciate TMac was good but Petty looked more comfortable today than he did at any time in the forward line last year. It’s natural for him. He must stay back.

I do not know whether we can swing TMac or May forward, nor whether we should, but it just cannot be Petty.

Henderson was good enough to hold his spot over Spargo, IMO.

petty was terrific defensively, he won't go forward

i'd have plugger mac in the back 6 over howes, regardless of whether may is back or not

Not the worst suggestion. Howes I'm just not sure about.

Against that, isn't Sestan still not quite up to it fitness-wise?

And he is a beautiful kick

Petty played his best game since his his game against the Cats last year. No way he goes forward ever again. Turner should be back. I'd give AJ another go rather than rucking JvR. Howes out for May.

Spargo must come in for Chandler, Chandler and Fritsch need a few games at Casey

May at FF or Turner back in

That’s pretty harsh… I think they will go to the tribunal with that one.

In the back pocket?

May as well try and unearth a player while we wait for McVee to come back, particularly given there's no option of AMW this year.

TMac was terrific today, but he was playing on a beanpole 21 year old and should have outplayed him as he did on a number of occasions.

Brave new world sans TMac if May is fit IMV mate. Not going to howl you down though 😄

I know I'll get howled down but I'd play JVR as the forward/ruck if AJ is out.

Despite the risk of injury, getting in the ruck helps JVR get involved in the play, hands on the ball, in the contest. When he is struggling up forward I think a stint in the rucks helps him work into the game.

I think TMac can replace Howes until McVee comes in. He’s too good not to play.

Howes needs continuity IMO. Yoyoing in and out of the team doesn't help him or us.

If May is fit, he goes to Larkey and Howes stays.

What do you call it when you get the yoyo and just throw it as far away as you physically can? Howes has no place jn an AFL team until he shows he's willing to stand under a high ball.

We looked much sounder defensively from the moment they gave Howes the vest and moved Rivers back. It's a shame to rob Peter to pay Paul but I think that's the logical result.

Happy to live with Billings on a wing especially at Marvel and use Langdon mid and forward against North.

I'd have had Billings in today ... he has an innate ability to find space for himself and is usually quite good in finding a teammate with good disposal

That same innate ability often sees him bob up in the forward line with an easy mark.  And we know what happens from there!!  It's such a shame he's such a lousy shot for goal

So on wing but as a link from half-back and then connecting to the half forwards is an ideal role.  In other words, just get him to stay on the wing and let Langdon & Windsor drift forward

He (Sestan) has been playing back in the practice games & doing well. Will be an interesting watch...

Not really.

Howes had the job on Toby Greene and soon as he got subbed out Greene went ballistic in the last quarter having 11 disposals and kicked 1.1

Speaks more volume on Rivers who was incredibly poor defensively on him in that last quarter then anything, especially to allow him to have that kind of impact the way that he did.

To my eye Greene didn’t go ballistic because Howes went off, he went ballistic because they moved him more into the midfield.

At any rate he killed Howes all day in the forward line.

What we don't need is slower players who get 5 possessions and cant kick over 30 meters.

Unfortunately, outside of Kozzie, we dont have any decent small forwards. But in an attacking sense Spargo is far from the answer.

If AJ is suspended as many here seem to believe, does Campbell get a run.   Max needs proper support and JVR isn’t the answer.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
