Thoughts:

- Rivers everywhere

- Lindsay super slick

- Melbourne on top in cont and uncontested ball but either not putting it in the right place, not moving quickly and direct enough

Come on it's raining and frittas not a big fan of the wet, maybe he should play with an umbrella hat?

No and he has so far stopped any Taylor influence on the game..

That and along with the slower ball movement is being done to limit their slingshot from interceptions

Fritsch’s first halves in particular are becoming a problem

His last 30 games,  first halves have been non existent

Jeffo 1 goal and a goal assist not enough for a first gamer??

His goal came in the first half a minute, for the next 59 he has done SFA

Tbf we beat the Bombers in the wet last year with no ruck

Geelong game we won last year was super slippery too.

In that case, he has only played 135, not 150. 😃

Sparrow is a seasoned player now but I don't think I'm fear in saying he really only seems to make up the numbers.

He plays ok as a pinch hitting forward and makes his fair share of tackled. But for his position and size, he rarely impacts games.

We are really going to miss Nibbler.

And while Kozzie was somewhat unlucky that's what happens when you have form. I know his agro makes him who he is but it's starting to become a problem. This is not his first opening game he's been suspended from.

I think we have been playing better than Gws . They seemed to have had their fair share of bounces and calls.

Oliver needs to use the ball smarter. And as mentioned Fritta and Jvr need to get more involved. Fritta seems so often to be on or off. I'd like to see some more consistent play.

Petty has been great.  He's taken seven grabs and while getting the ball, Max needs to take some marks. Some positive signs from positive Langers.

Maybe time to sub Howes off. And as usual I'd like more from Chandler.

The big upside is all the goals from so many first timers.

Will we run the game out. Like last time we met we looked like we were starting to wrap things up with four in a row but let them off the hook.

Who will win this one for us.

Id love to see Jeffo walk away with a bag of five.

Surely Jvr and Fritta will open their accounts.

Roo - is he ok? Watching on tv, he’s been unsighted. …

Given the circumstances (Giants warmed up after a bolstering opening round and us with a lot of green players), I’ll take that first half.

Lot of improvement required, but some are pulling out the razor blades a bit early.

Just dropped by to say XL looks like he’s played 100 games already, he’s very good

Bah humbug, can't even watch the game on the telly, paid for a watchafl membership (plus a regular one) and the club didn't send me a valid activation code.  And I've only just found this out.  Someone in the membership dept is going to discover a very grumpy email from me on Monday.

When you contact them, you're not the only one. I had that for 2 seasons in a row and stopped going through the club, signed directly with Fox/WatchAFL, which is instantaneous.

This system with the code is costing them members.

I think we’ll be ok but we need to be a little bit slicker with our skills, we should be ahead, or at the very least not behind right now. The giants are just efficient and make us pay for mistakes.

How good is Lindsay?

4 tackles and 14 from the first half. Playing wing and half back.

Very clean in these conditions and when he burst off half back at one stage it was delicious.

Long way to go, but if Lindsay can have a first season like Windsor did, and we play them both between half back and the wing, our ball use, cleanness and speed will go through the roof.

I thought chandler had a pretty good first half ?

Really disappointing to give away two goals are dominating that Q. Dumb free kick by Petty and a turnover from Howes. We need to concentrate for longer

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
