Jackson will come back to Victoria, and you're correct it's likely he'll seek a trade. I think it's incredibly unlikely he'll get back here this offseason, but he will only request a trade back to the MFC. I would be watching this space over the next 12 months.

Inside word @BLWNBA?

Generally if a player is set on moving back home / to a particular club, it happens eventually, so for our sake I hope itโ€™s something Dogga feels strongly about (as much as I feel for and respect his personal circumstances)

Treacy, Voss and Amiss so why would Dockers want Rooey?

play him at full back

i still think our best chance is trac to dingley, the carlton first round pick that they hold to flagmantle, and dogga coming 'home' to us, with other bits and pieces around the edges

Pearce and Cox for starters.

Will be an interesting watch.

Like your optimism but not a chance in a million years

Very unlikely LJ comes back sans Goody and with our off field mess. We are not an attractive destination anymore.

Depends on the next coach. We could send the next 2 first rounders to Freo. Although i understand his partner is from Geelong so I hope he doesn't go to the Cats.

Geelong will open their bottomless pit salary cap up and sign him and clarry

If Clarry goes, it appears the Cats are the only realistic option, as they wanted him and he likewise.

Because of the contract involved, even they couldnโ€™t afford both, so hope LJ is not an option for them.

Lj heavily being looked at by bloody Collingwood

Well they are one of the 3 clubs every Vic journo wants good players to go to.

Will probably wind up at Geelong. They need a ruckman and his partner is from Geelong and wanting to move home from WA. They'll promise him a farm and life near a beach to surf and that'll be that.

Has this still got any legs, or is it dead in the water?

Jackson still wants to get back to the MFC. Immense difficulties with it occurring, diluted by the fact that there is an incoming coach who (obviously) isn't Goodwin.

Is that to say Goodwin being gone makes Dogga want to come back more/makes it easier to lure him back?

Understand it would be extremely difficult either way

I'd look at it more that the personal connection of Goodwin being coach, increased the affinity of the Club wanting Jackson. There was an emotional connection there by virtue of Goodwin being his coach from 2020 - 2022, that is no longer present. I have no doubt that if Jackson were to declare his intention to seek a trade to Melbourne we'd look to facilitate it, but there may be less of an inclination from the Melbourne side to pursue this actively, now that that personal connection is gone. A new coach may not have this desire to drive this.

We would be a better team with Jackson, so I am confident a new Coach would drive it if it was possible.

I would be staggered if any prospective coach wouldnโ€™t want LJ at Melbourne.

Caroline Wilson has convinced him not to pursue it

I've never said a new coach wouldn't want Jackson, but I don't necessarily think it would be a certainty we'd go in this direction. The personal connection and affinity which was a two-way street did (does?) play a big part in this.

Would Jackson make our side better? I absolutely think so. Would I want any incoming coach and list management team to pursue Jackson? Overall, yes.

But depending on where a new coach thought our side was, what areas for improvement were identified, and what we needed to be competitive and play the game style that the new coach desires, would dictate the decision (amongst list management considerations).

If I was providing analysis based on an admiralty rating, with so many unknowns at this stage, I'd say it's possible (50%~). To some this will sound like I'm sitting on the fence, and maybe I am. This part of the conversation is based on my interpretation of events and my own views, it's not based on facts or knowledge as we just don't have those at the moment. The flip side is if we could accommodate a trade for Jackson, it would almost certainly occur.

What I would say, based on the current situation (without knowing intentions regarding outgoing trades), is that it's remote and highly unlikely that Jackson would be at the club next year as it stands.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
