Umpires are [censored] atrocious

It’s so bad it’s laughable… thankfully it’s match simulation

Mark to Turner surely

Loving the ferocity with which our key forwards aer attacking the ball aerially. If we keep it up all season, we can be a feared attacking club again

Came on here to check scores etc. only to realise the same knobs on here are still sooking and it’s a damn practice match. 🤣🤣🤣

How are all the newest Dees we got over the offseason going?

  • langford - everywhere, get on him for the rising star; will be the best 1st year player we've had since oliver
  • linsday - smooth, almost goes unnoticed
  • sharp - busy and quick, runs to the right spot, impacts defensively
  • campbell - looks like an afl-ready ruckman, looks surprising that he's not played more senior footy

I’ve been happy with all of them.

Campbell- holding his own against Xerri and is fantastic back up to Max

Sharp- has done some nice things and kicked a goal. Has been clean with ball in hand.

Langford- smooth mover and knows how to find it

Lindsay- similar to Langford without the marking prowess but a bit quicker

Johnson hasn’t played yet I don’t think

Now they are doing some strange scenario training…. So anyone trying to worry about scores today should chill

Thanks mate. Sounds promising 👌

I usually avoid match day threads (for reasons which don't need much imgaination to guess), but I'm following this one out of footy deprivation.

Are these established AFL umpires, or some newbies?

our kids are doing alright out there

I am expect to be shouted down for this but I feel like Billings has actually looked pretty good…

Awful turnover early in the game but pretty good outside that

Umps let play for a minute after the 3 minutes ended?

Thanks pal. I like the sounds of that comment best player drafted since Oliver. And sounds like we may picked up some shrewd picks in Sharp and Campbell. Albeit small sample, but consistent with training reports over the summer.

I wish the other guy would shut up for a while.

I felt like he was finding his feet a bit towards end of '24. Hopefully translate to a better and consistent season in '25.

No sign of Brown dog

He along with Johnson and Verrell were wearing the training tee-shirts in the pre game warmup which suggests he’ll either be playing in the second half or not at all.

Anybody willing to give this ageing queen a rundown on how Oliver is going? I’m really wanting him to stick it far up some people this year

Very nicely.  Old Clay is back…

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
