Looks like The Crows, The Eagles, The Swans and Hawks could be in  for some grief...

…….. so the bloody Magpies get away scot-free again??

Nice, it's on Kayo 8am Perth time.  Happy to get to the preseason game against Freo here in WA just before the season starts.  Hopefully the clubs also does some activities for young wa supporters while they are here for it.

NOTE: Due to expected extreme weather there’s a change to start time of the practice match vs North at Arden St this Saturday February 22nd. The match is now scheduled to start at 10am

Well, you've taken on the wrong person to play the pedantry game with.

Pandemics are not by definition, world wide.

From wiki:

A pandemic (/pænˈdɛmɪk/ pan-DEM-ik) is an epidemic of an infectious disease that has a sudden increase in cases and spreads across a large region, for instance multiple continents OR world wide, affecting a substantial number of individuals.

From the Oxford dictionary:

a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease over a whole country OR the world at a particular time.

I stand corrected and I thank you for the mature and respectful way you’ve brought it to my attention, ie. you didn’t say “YOU’RE WRONG!” Now I’m gonna have to go back and reread your post because I’m sure there’s at least one typo. 😁

I would suggest public transport as there's limited parking.

Also be careful of the elephants 🐘

No trunk calls !!

I was going to point this out.  Mid 30's isn't a great way to watch football.

Definitely public transport. The ground is basically on a main road and parking is very difficult to get. There’s South Kensington train station and North Melbourne train station with Arden St kinda in the middle.

Does any train actually ever stop at South Kensington?

There is also Kensington Station (Craigeburn line) - both are about a 20 minute walk, but I would suggest Kensington Station might be a slightly easier and more straight forward walk, plus I also believe trains don't always stop at South Kensington...check that.

I assume when everyone is saying South Kensington, what they really mean is Macauley. Macauley is on the Upfield line and about a 10 minute walk to Arden St. North Melbourne is an ever so slightly longer walk but North Melbourne has a lot more trains running to it.

If you end up at Kensington or South Kensington Stations then you're probably lost.

Anyone been to the Arden Street ground before? What is parking like? Is public transport a better option from East Malvern?

Thanks in advance.

We’ve been told parking may not be as big a problem as first thought. Arden St Oval is in an area largely surrounded by factories which are closed on weekends.

Depends on where you coming from AoB - if you are coming in on the Craigeburn line and don't want to hop trains at North Melbourne you might go Kensington or just continue on to North Melbourne station - 10 minutes walk also.

As it stands at the moment, you can watch live on Kayo or there’s a 1 hour package on Fox Footy at 6:00pm *.

* check your local guides

Hopefully Foxtel revise their scheduling by using one of their other sports channel to show our game live. At the moment Fox Footy is showing Carlton V St Kilda live but not our game.

Seems odd that you pay more for Foxtel than Kayo and yet Kayo only shows the game live.

Off Macauley Road over railway line or around back of Lost Dogs Home  Forty years ago

i suspect you'll be able to navigate to an extra channel to access the coverage

generally speaking if it's shown on kayo it's shown on foxtel, and vice-versa

Yeah I think you're right. They did this yesterday with the WC/Rich and Geel/Hawks game.

In 2022 I think Kayo had exclusive rights to these match sims and were not shown on Foxtel which I found bizarre at the time. They rectified that the following year.

Yeah I suggested South Kensington which is on the Craigieburn line but I was getting that confused with Macaulay which is on the Upfield line and which is close to the ground.

Couldn’t be stuffed with a new thread on the other pre season games but what I saw from the Geelong Hawks game tells me that Cats will contend again. Hawks look disinterested so hard to gauge.

You’ve been talking about the best way to get to Arden St? Or you’ve been talking about Demonland not being the place to go to for things like the best way to get to Arden St? If the latter, there’s no harm in posting tips from people who may know the area well for folks who don’t know the area well.

I’m on the Sunbury line and our train flies past South Kensington without stopping. One time I was on a Werribee train and when it stopped at South Kensington I took photos to prove trains do actually stop there. I deliberately made them blurry just like photos of Big Foot sightings or anything else mythical. 😅

This talk of scheduling for heat.

We can look forward to games on breakfast television when the Roos are relocated as the North Australia team.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
