Based on previous years....add about 10K to the total at the end of March and that is the end of year total.

We are heading for a total around 55k, but I doubt we will make even that mark this year. The numbers have only gone up by 2K in the past month.

You need early season wins to convince people to spend their money, and we certainly didn't do that this year.

Nice to reflect on this relationship, and the initiatives to recognise it. I wonder if the 'complementary 3-game memberships' mentioned will be counted in our membership tally?

My biggest worry is that members are voting with their feet (and their wallets). Currently 51,872 - down 10,400 from this time last year. That is extremely worrying - surely the biggest drop-off in nominal or percentage terms for AFL clubs. I hear the Club has stopped doing volunteer member call-outs. Are we just waiting for things to turn around on the field? What happened to our Member Engagement Committee? - supposedly a key recommendation from last year's "external governance review"? We probably all know someone who may have dropped off the list so engagement with existing members may encourage the "leavers' to re-sign?

Similar to what happened in the Neeld era. My take is that supporters have lost faith with the coach(as I have), particularly his rehashing of the same old spin after every game.

...and with money tight for everyone in the current environment, people who would have left re-joining until the last possible time, now won't after a 0-5 start, combined with less than enthralling prospects on field in the coming weeks.

It’s years like these that weed out the Bandwagon who only buy memberships late in the year to get finals access.

I know the more the merrier. But if a flag 4 years ago doesn’t get any loyalty out of you, nothing ever will!

Might well there be some ( late arrivals for finals ) the damage to the membership total is not from them.

It is literally by those disenfranchised by the club or where they ( lost members ) see it.

I.e... they were never renewing this season.

As with much at Melbourne, the trend is down.

A reality is money is money. People can get tired of throwing their hard earned away.

True to some degree beelzebub but my take is that the Media Assault on the MFC and then the in-fighting regarding our board and Mr Lawrence in 2024 convinced a lot of people including some on here that the MFC should be burnt down. That would have influenced the uninformed and even some rusted on members to jump ship in their droves.

I agree that there is disillusionment within the membership but I don't necessarily agree that this is solely with the club .I sense there is such significant frustration and disappointment with the AFL s running of the game that members have turned away from the game. Some of this disquiet probably has its genesis with the handling of the Brayshaw fiasco and some with the standard of umpiring .i hope the Club conducts a survey of members who did not re-sign to drill into the reasons for their absence. It might surprise

I take a different view, I think it's the mismanagement of the club over the last few years (President, CEO, FD all included) which has turned people off. I don't know many MFC supporters outside my own family but I have heard from more than a couple that they won't sign back up til Goodwin is gone due to his frustrating game plan.

I find the team, under Goodwin unwatchable and so have many of my family and friends

It is too frustrating and dont start me on the post match PCs with the constant BS and spin

If we end up bottom 4 ( again ).. If Goody is "backed" by the club... then many more will back away in 26. ( many!! )

We'll struggle.

Today we have 500 members more than North.

In 2023 we had 19,000 more members than North.

St Kilda (of all teams) and Bulldogs (with justification) have moved past us.

If we have a really bad end to the season from a W/L perspective and Goodwin retains his job, we will clearly have the worst membership of all Victorian clubs next year. We will have a supporter base completely devoid of hope for the present and future.
