Right? It’s 2025, not 1955. But you wouldn’t know it on here. The majority are fine, it’s the minority of cavemen who do the damage.

Little men with little problems ghosty

Not surprised. I don't think he had the best year but he's still young & hopefully we can find a replacement.

Look at least he's going home & not to another Victorian club or a Sydney or Queensland team.

It is what it is

Just wondering if @Dannyz is being patronised and/or insulted for also saying Judd signed months ago.

Thought not.

Who is dannyz?

We’re all shaped by our own experiences, perspectives, morals and ethics. I don’t think lying is entirely ‘good’ or ‘bad’, it’s entirely contextual and like many things in life, I don’t think you can merely assign a binary answer to it.

There’s also a difference between a lie, and a mistruth, to be a pedant.

No, I explicitly don’t think an employee has any obligation to state their intentions to someone, other than their manager and at a certain point, their club of employment and a subsequent new club. Live in the real world.

Props to you if you’ve never ‘lied’ to an employer.

I don’t think there’s anything surprisingly or ‘wrong’ about what’s unfolded and I’m not even disputing what he’s apparently said to people. But given the conventions of the AFL system, how player movement works, and the nature of keeping a player that’s OOC and isn’t signing in the context of the AFL, and you still thought he’d likely sign… well, yeah, I would call you naive.

So apparently we are in complete agreement, you just use posh words and I say 'white lie'. (Though why you threw in that sarcastic line about me never having lied to an employer seems odd in the context of my post - I didn't claim to be snow white).

But you miss the point in your last para. What you say about player movement etc is true and we'd be naive to draw any firm conclusions until the ink has dried on a contract in the absence of any other information. Agreed. But I don't think it is naive to believe a player who has personally said to you "I've signed". You have to have some faith in personal relationships and that people are not always likey to be lying or you live in hell.

Redlegs conjecture about Judd possibly having signed but his manager sat on it is interesting. Would I be naive to think that is a possibility, or would I be naive to think that is impossible?

Ahh... Ghosty... well done to face the "press" as it were. You did nothing more than pass on your info. Decent of you. Some might suggest it was naive to take 'that Dudd' at his word but why wouldn't you. No reason to doubt. Lost among the trees it would have been hard to make out the Forest... all those WA Redgums...

We win some, lose some

Keep punching !!

So now Judd is a Dudd. Unbelievable. Hes a twenty two year old man who was making the biggest decision of his life. I wish him well and hope the club makes ude of the pick/ swap.

What a low thing to say. Its a business , he owes this ghost bloke nothing but contempt for asking.

Funniest thing I’ve read all day 🤣

He's dudd to me .....

Only care really about this club.... not the other 17.

He definitely dudded us.

Was he only offered a 2 yr contract to anyone’s knowledge?

That's what was reported

It is posters like Dannyz and Ghosty I come on here to read. Being in another state their insight and personal stories allow me to feel more a part of the supporter base and closer to the goings on so please keep on a posting. Snipers will snipe, haters will hate and a desire to “I told you so” is just bloody annoying.

As for Juddy I reckon he is a significant loss but not disastrous. He also had a chance to be a part of our baby demons coming through but has chosen not to be. Just hope we get decent compensation.

We need players. Straight trade for Cooper Simpson

Cooper Simpson Draft Profile

Dandenong Stingrays co-captain Cooper Simpson is a clean and quick midfielder who hits the scoreboard and has noted leadership qualities.

For perspective, I just checked the Demonland Player of the Year voting to see how Judd McVee went in 2025 with Demonlanders who were the ones who cast the votes.

He polled three votes, a mere 295 behind the winner and wasn't in our top 20 votegetters.

Appreciate that he did much better last year but you're only as good as your last game.

He originally fell out with the club because he was demanding his girlfriend be able to join him on every interstate road trip - feels anxious when she’s not around….. club did not want to lose him but won’t miss Judds immaturity and the hand holding required

Going to have a lot more interstate trips now

Matthew Johnson could be ok.

Are Aiden Riddle or Cooper Simpson players we could look at?

I quite liked the look of Simpson in the small bits I've seen of him. Only played the 3 games this year though so obviously has some limitations or flaws to his game. Perhaps @Pennant St Dee might have a better idea on if he's an ideal target and how he's looked at wafl level?

The Jackson move never sat right with me and this one feels worse to me in some regards.

I appreciate that some are more circumspect and i'm already of the opinion that AMW will be able to be that attacking half back.

Imo, I think blatantly lying to ghosty and danny is absolutely reprehensible and not something i'll forget anytime soon.

Loyalty and repaying the faith are clearly a dying concept.

Good riddance Judd.

Broke into the team midway through the year then did a really nasty shoulder injury that kept him out. I watched one of his games before that and he looked pretty good off half back. Apparently a new role for him this year after being tried half forward for a while.

Contracted until 2027 though so would be a separate trade from Judd.

So by that measure Danger and Cameron are hacks! 😂

Looks good throughout the clip, ball use is one of our biggest concerns so if he can bring the great kicking off halfback like he showed id be interested

I don’t expect to get a good return at all for McVee given he’s out of contract. If Geelong gave the Dogs pick 17 for this year’s third best player of the year in the out of contract Bailey Smith, how on earth can we expect anything better than pick 35 for a player that largely stunk it up this year (albeit McVee was very good in 2023 and 2024)

Looking now like a real step back year (next year) assuming Trac and May also depart.

So .... what's the haps !!

What's gnus with you...

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
