May is December too....

That's good, as if he is traded, no one will know until December 2026, when they flip the calendar page to December.

Also I just realized where Judd's signed contract is, it's with the Calendar printer.

"Steven King took time out of his Grand Final preparation to meet with uncontracted Demon Judd McVee as a decision nears on his future.

McVee’s management will meet with the Demons defender this week to assess the landscape but he emerged from that meeting with positive vibes about his coach.

He has interest from WA-based clubs but the more likely outcome now is that he re-signs at the Demons.

His partner Lily Johnson plays for the Demons’ AFLW side, although there is other interest in Victoria.

McVee is keen to play a more attacking role in the backline under McVee but had held off signing a new deal for the entire year as he was pigeonholed as a close-checking defender."

(Typo in that, I presume that the bit in the middle there should be "play a more attacking role in the backline under King ")

Update: Despite west coast offering a nice deal and Adelaide having a look, McVee is going to resign on a two year deal. Spoke with King and Lamb. Assured of how it looks for him in 26. This is a key signing for King early days in his tenure.

A lot of people inferring that Dannyz said he HAD signed? He wrote he's GOING TO sign. Therefore the latest report that he met with King and is now likely to sign all lines up

I told @Lucifers Hero that McVee was going to resign long before I posted this.

To be clear, he informed the club of his intent to re-sign. He got injured and pushed this back. He intended to re-sign when he recaptured form but wasn’t happy with the role and some other things. His head was turned a little by the interest in him but things have settled and he is happy with King’s plans for him.

You and I get our information from very different places.

I remember Grundy was in my calendar the year after he left the club for Sydney, just made me laugh.

These calendar printers should really sync up more with the list managers.

Who prints a calendar in September in this day and age.

Mind you who even buys calendars these days

Yes, we do.

And on this occasion we said the same thing, just worded differently (below)

Yet nobody dares tell you you’ll look stupid and have egg on your face should Judd end up leaving. Also, you don’t have posts like this one aimed at you…

⬆️ that’s just one of many posts.

So, now I expect to be told to stop making such a big deal of it but to me it IS a big deal. I’m p*****d off that some people have no qualms about relentlessly taking me to task for months on end - all the while not so much as question you - on an assertion that we’ve both made.

Surely a record number of posts about an underperformed. Generally had a poor year apart from maybe 3 or 4 decent games.

True about the posts but had many friends that under performed and yet highly regarded and sort after by a team in the 8

Do we take it that despite any murmurings, utterances or nods & winks its very probable he hasn't signed.

What happens ?? From Monday it probably starts .

Of course he hasnt signed.. it was clear from day dot that behind closed doors he had put contract talks on hold to the end of the season even though the club have had a deal on the table for him for a while.

Clearly what he has says to his close friends and family is completely different to what he says to the general supporters.

Whilst the talk with King seems to have been positive, unless I see an official announcement, then at this stage he hasnt signed an official deal.

I know.. just being sarcastic Daz.

I have be saying all along it seemed only logical he hadn't actually signed. Lots of folks suggesting other ideas but ...well... 🍩🍩🍩

Is there an issue between May and McVee?

True but I'm willing to cut him some slack after his preseason injury

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
