Why, on this forum that provides an incredible source of information ( I still remember the excitement I felt when I found DL over 10 years ago) do people insist on deriding comments made by contributors like Ghost Writer.  Her insights along with a few (very few) others provide the tangible fuel that keeps this place valid.  Remember that she is the one that committs to attending training sessions, reaching out to players and generally immersing herself in the club and is then generous enough to take time to post on DL.  That alone is far more than can be said for almost all of the rest of us.

My point is this; you may not agree with everything she says but my goodness her reporting comes from a more reliable place than most of our opinions.  I don't know Ghosty but by jingoes I want to thank her for the work she does for our great club and this forum!!

Hope Judd does stay. Probably our best user of the footy. Doesn’t get the credit he deserves outside of our club which means I think we would get unders for him.
I’m not as across players wages but given he was on the rookie list I’m assuming he wasn’t in massive coin. It’s time for his agent to earn his coin and get Judd a good deal- if he gets offers on the table from the WA clubs it pushing up what we will have to pay to keep him.

Agree. He deserves to be rewarded.  A great JT rookie pick who has exceeded all expectations!!!

Dagnabbit ya got me. I guess the jig’s up.
I don’t know Koltyn Tholstrup at all. I made the whole conversation up. I don’t know why I’d make it up but clearly I did since it’s the most outrageously unbelievable, otherworldly, unfathomable, mind-blowing, inconceivable suggestion that that conversation took place; why, it’s stuff of fantasy.

Just let them go through to the keeper GW.

Playing shots just keeps encouraging those frustrating balls just outside off.

Play at 'em and they'll keep putting them right there and you'll eventually get out.

I love everyone 💗 MFC at Xmas time.

You’re right. Thought I was Yishasvi Jaiswal for a minute there. 😁

Precociously talented but prone to the occasional rush of blood and rash shot?

WoK just because you think something doesn’t mean that you have to say it, casting aspersions about conversations that you didn’t witness is just plain hurtful and unnecessary.

Mate, just think about it. Why on earth would Kolt say that to a supporter about another player, in the same week his contract is spoken about on the forum. And if Kolt, as a 1st 12 mth player, is actually saying that about other players and their relationships to supporters at a training da  he needs to pull his head in. Play it through in your head.

Seems like a fanciful fairytale to me. I might well be wrong but I bet even you doubt I am.

The poster knows these players and they know her. They’re young and enjoying life. There’s absolutely no reason why they wouldn’t tell her what’s going on. You know she’s struggled with the overt criticism so just let it go. It’s not a sheltered workplace but you’ve got to understand you’re making it unpleasant for her. Maybe ask yourself what you’re getting out of trying to put her down? It just makes you a bully and a total tool.

While there's a whole debate about supported employment for people with disabilities, using "sheltered workshop" as a put-down is pretty low. Even for you.

this is weird. What have I missed? Was there an intervention or group therapy session. Once again I doubt kolt said that to a supporter. Why am i made to feel as though I have insulted the disabled? i did nothing to warrant the cultish feedback.

If you doubt what any player might have said,  why not go to a training session yourself and prove the point,

Then you might have a basis for any comments,  otherwise you should take them on face value.  Same as everyone else has to do,

Now that’s quite a sensible suggestion - let’s see whether it gets traction

Clearly you have missed everything that has been mentioned in the last couple of pages of the forum WoK. Play nicely.

I'll tell you why certain posters undermine her and try to cast doubt on her. It's quite simple. They are jealous. GW puts in the hard yards but also - and I have never actually met her - quite clearly has an open, generous nature, and so  the players like her and talk to her. Some posters, we all know who they are, don't have those relationships and never will. They also aren't liked on this site. So they backstab, carp, make snide comments, and disparage whatever she says. They don't have her relationships so they don't believe, or pretend not to believe, that she could have them either.

It is pure jealousy.

Your manner is insulting, you question a much loved poster, you make disparaging remarks and play the victim.

You are the problem here.

Why not step back for a while and grow up.

Expect Tasmania to throw McVee and Johnson large contracts.

…. then expect McVee and Johnson to smack those contracts into the middle of the Shane Warne Stand while on their way to posting a record partnership. 😁

It might have something to do with the fact that they've only been here for 2 seconds.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Having convincingly defeated last year’s premier and decisively outplayed the runner-up with 8.2 in the final quarter, nothing epitomized the Melbourne Football Club’s performance more than its 1.12 final half, particularly the eight consecutive behinds in the last term, against a struggling St Kilda team in the midst of a dismal losing streak. Just when stability and consistency were anticipated within the Demon ranks, they delivered a quintessential performance marked by instability and ill-conceived decisions, with the most striking aspect being their inaccuracy in kicking for goal, which suggested a lack of preparation (instead of sleeping in their hotel in Alice, were they having a night on the turps) rather than a well-rested team. Let’s face it - this kicking disease that makes them look like raw amateurs is becoming a millstone around the team’s neck.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
