I don’t know if Clayton Oliver spends any time thinking about ‘Brand Oliver’, but his off season should be studied in the curriculum of anyone entering into sports management and online promotions.

I feel nothing but love for Clarry after he has had a very similar offseason to a teammate who is very conscious of his brand off the field.

Two players, both explored their options… one has come back, an absolute darling, the other’s standing is  (imho) sadly tainted.

If this is some sort of veiled dig at Trac personally I think that’s out of line

Have you not seen any of the vision of Trac working super hard to get as fit as he possibly can be for 2025?

Trac is not due to be back yet just like a dozen other senior players that are not training atm - Clayton looks a lot less physically ready than Trac imho so it’s great he recognises that and wants (and frankly needs) to start asap

Whatever our personal views are of off field events in the off season I think it’s time everyone puts that all behind us and focus on being the best the club can be - that’s of course what we expect of our playing group so as supporters we should too

Glad to see Christian is healthy and training hard and I hope he has a great year.  I honestly wish him only the best.

There’s no logic to barracking for a football team; logic collapses immediately when we ask ourselves why we do what we do.  We cheer kids kicking a ball around a field…. It’s absurd.

The fact of the matter is, if Petracca had what he wanted, he’d be at AIA and not Gosch’s.
That hurts the heart, even if my head can understand it.   And, in footy, the heart trumps the head every time.

I’d love to go bananas every time Petracca gets his hands on the ball next year but, truth be told, my heart has checked out on him.

That’s 100% personal and, in all honestly, I’d hate to change anyone’s mind on the topic, but I’ve kinda checked out in him.  Which is sad - he’s been a favourite of mine.  But the love has gone for now.

It seems some hard decisions and hard conversations were needed - maybe he was the catalyst for that happening

If it makes us a better team then good on him

The only real fact that I know is that he remains arguably our best footballer and if we really want to have success we should all put our feelings and speculation away and get behind the team including Trac

For me, it's about whether Trac gets behind the team!

There is no objective way of knowing that.  His actions/non actions on social media aren't his attitude or behaviour inside the club.  If there is bickering on the field it happens all the time ala May/Lever.  And People who want to find fault will forensically analyze his public appearances.

So people (not necessarily yourself) will probably stick to their opinions as they are and will remain subjective.  Forgiveness doesn't come easy to some.

As an aside, I read somewhere on DL about booing Petracca next year.  I would be horrified.  It wouldn't help him wanting to stay.

Its time to be united as a club, as a team and as fans.

Agree, any Demon supporter booing Petracca would be shocking. Premiership player, Norm Smith medal winner, should be fully supported so he wants to stay and help create future success.

The club seemingly got a number of things wrong, hopefully Petracca can be a key part of getting them right on the field again.

It may take a little while for things to get back to normal, Tracc needs to re- integrate with the team and the team need to reset the chemistry. The injection of new talent, new coaches, amended game plans and the improvement in our 1-4 year players will help the team meld together and bring some real happiness and joy back for us supporters. Nathan Jones could play a big part in this process.

Agree 100%, but it’s time to leave things behind, and get on with making finals!

I’ll only get the love back with Trac if he’s still with us in 2026

As for Clarry, it never left & he didn’t want to either, his body language shows that

Sadly I think that is the case for many of us.  In the meantime we hope he plays well and urges his teamates on.

There are more than enough detractors outside , quite willing to pull is down.

Everyone makes mistakes and everyone has to sit on the toilet at some stage,

Start of preseason, time to gel together and avoid outside noise ,  go Dee's

For me he needs to regain supporters’ trust and display his passion for the club on the field before some of us will be able to love him as we did.   So it is really over to CP5 and I suspect he will get there.

So you know he wasn’t training or just a guess?

Judging by his insta story he spent more time at Flemington than the Gym.

I suppose that's far, but if you compare him to someone like Trac who spent his holiday's training. They're miles apart in professionalism.

If its not on insta it didnt happen

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
