At least he's hit the ground running. 6 months after they said he would. Fantastic.

I think you can let that go now. I was doubtful of his appointment however now heโ€™s started letโ€™s give him and Smith some time, they deserve at least that.

He came down to our bay at one point and sought me out. He wanted to meet Ryan, our awesome chant-leader who was in the same row. Ryan was busy waving a giant flag (we had just kicked a goal so there was bedlam with giant everythings waving about) so he said, โ€œPlease tell Ryan I said helloโ€ and he turned to leave. I said, โ€œPaul! Come in and sit with us!โ€ The poor thing looked horrified ๐Ÿคฃ

Smart man! He's already worked out the real powerbroker at the club

Incoming Melbourne CEO opens up about the sacking of Simo...

Incoming CEO Paul Guerra joined Wide World of Sports and spoke about the Melbourne board's decision to part ways with the 2021 premiership coach.

Excellent 3AW interview.

Mixed feelings at the end when asked his favourite M Lloyd moment. His response was the 2000 GF.

I won't hold it against him but I literally winced. For me the thuggery of that game is up there with the HWSNBN Mark11 attack on Gus two years ago.

So Ghosty @Ghostwriter he needs to quickly learn the pain of being a demon supporter so another lecture re 'Ess is dead' is in order!!๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ˜‰

Didn't mind it. Prefer a bloke who can be honest over someone who tries to appease everyone with bs.

I've added some emoji's to give the lighthearted edge intended.

But I did physically wince - it is an instinctive reaction to ref of 2000 GF. It was like a dagger to my heart.

Good news! Looks like Mark Williams might stay. Guerra will talk with him re another role in the club. Didn't indicate if in FD or elsewhere. ๐Ÿ˜

Iโ€™m going to sound overly negative here. Butโ€ฆ

While I think Paul guerra spoke well and hats off to him for that, we are setting the bar pretty low because Gary Pert talked in circles about best culture in 40 years when we all knew that was silly, and now the interim CEO is essentially silent publicly.

just having a CEO that actually speaks and sounds genuine and isnโ€™t making huge claims about our culture seems to be the bar weโ€™ve landed on, when in reality his success will be, getting Caulfield announced in the next 12 months, a good decision on the next coach, and stability over a 3-5 year period with increasing profits, membership and crowd attendance being another huge thing to figure out.

Iโ€™m hopeful heโ€™s up for the job but I see a lot of patting him on the back for just speaking like a human being rather than a used car salesman

The old saying..."talk is cheap"

He's got a big job ahead of him. The last EFC bloke we had was good, lets hope this one matches him.

Was this legit? Some have suggested he answers the question about Choco not realising heโ€™d been axed. Does he actually intend on giving Williams a role or was it slip of the tongue?

Thanks for posting the link.

He sounds very impressive from that brief interview and is apparently across most areas of the club already.

As you would know from my posting, I particularly loved the comment that โ€œwe would be at Caulfield Racecourse, with an announcement in the near futureโ€.

Yes thatโ€™s true, but talk is the first part of good communication and he seems to handle that part very well.

Reputation and experience are other important attributes and he appears to have those, though of course not in a football scenario yet.

Spoke very well i thought. I like the way he handled that nuffy sam McClure

the proof will be in the pudding of course. He did sound very definitive on Caulfield so there can be no back tracking there.

Really need to nail the head coach appointment. Get that right we can be challenging again in 2 years hopefully.

I thought it was legit as it was after saying the club had made some hard decisions eg Goodwin and Williams.

It may have been a slip of the tongue if Williams didn't know about it yet or not yet enamoured with the idea.

It definitely sounded legit. In both interviews, he spoke about not renewing Choco's development coach contract and that we'd have a new development team.

I think the problem is people are assuming Choco was 'axed'. That's not really the case, is it? Goody was axed. Choco's contract was up and not renewed for the development role. Doesn't stop the club from offering him a position somewhere else, and its then up to Choco to decide if he wants to do it or not

Not really though. One is we don't want you at the club, one is we don't want you in that role. It might be semantics, and it might result in the same outcome if Choco decides he doesn't want to hang around, but then that's his choice. An axing isn't

Woah it's almost like he's the CEO and the performance of the club across all key metrics ultimately falls on him. Huge if true.

I love when people respond like a smart Alec while missing the point entirely.

Iโ€™m saying we are patting him on the back for speaking well, because we are so used to either BS or silence. Of course thatโ€™s his job and what heโ€™ll be judged onโ€ฆ.

Iโ€™ve never seen a professional in any industry receive more applause for simply being able to speak like a human being besides maybe some politicians?

I mean, thatโ€™s literally all weโ€™ve got to judge him on right now. Obviously he will be ultimately judged on the outcomes he actually delivers, that goes without saying.

Pretty clear that the reactions here are just people happy with the first impression theyโ€™re getting. Donโ€™t need to read much into it beyond that.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
