Have a look at the BGE on FoxFooty, for some unknown reason the Melbourne football club are never in these games. Pretty sure weโ€™ve been in some brilliant games, โ€˜21 final series, โ€˜18 final series plus plenty more. As is usual the football media never give us anything unless itโ€™s to denigrate us, they only like to sink the boots into the Demons, thatโ€™s it!

We lose, but it was a classic that everyone has forgotten.

That was the night Travis Johnstone played one of the best games Iโ€™ve ever seen.

Was that the night Modra nailed us in the second half?

There seems to be no intention of Fox replaying any u18 championship games. Every avid footy fan is interested in who their club will pick in 17 days, but all we see on Fox Footy are repeat upon repeat of AFLW games and/or the same 'classic' games ad nauseam.

They broadcast the u18 games live so they have them to show.ย  It's just lazy broadcasting. I contacted Fox weeks back to suggest they show them and was told my suggestion would be passed on.ย

Yeah, sure.

No. Mark Stevens kicked 4 or 5 goals for the crows in this game from memory.
We were 7 goals down at quarter time. Then we had a 28 point lead in the 3rd quarter, it was a 70 odd point turn around in 2 quarters. We ended up losing by 12 points.

I do remember Modra kicking 10 against us at the G when he was at Freo though.

I was at that match. And yes, Travis played a blinder.

Looking forward to watching the obligatory Melbourne V North classic in 1996.ย

The one where North fell over the lineโ€ฆby 106 points.

87's better.

Modra kicked 10 against us at the MCG in 1999 I believe.ย

That 2002 Semi Final against Adelaide was the most incredible game i can remember.ย
the momentum swings on the field and in the crowd i will never forget.ย
i remember being devastated at the endโ€ฆ.

Can still remember walking back to the car with my dad, holding his hand and crying my eyes out. I was 29 years old.

Itโ€™s games like that, that changed Coaching philosophyย

There was no concept of Locking down an opponentย

I think he spent most of the first quater on the bench and was cooked by the last but inbetween it was the most sublime individual performace you will ever see

The 2002 Dees/Crows final was certainly a game for the ages, but has never been on Fox Footyโ€™s classic catalogue.

Interestingly one of the most boring games of the AFL era between Geelong (33) V North (53) in pouring rain back in 2001 makes the annual โ€œFox Footy classic gamesโ€ each year.

Not to mention the North V Melbourne game in 1996 that gets shown every year when North flogged us by 18 goals, but yet is still considered a โ€œFox Classicโ€

I will unfortunately never be able to forget this game, but I have no memory at all of Mark Stevens.

An Adelaide player named Goodwin had 25 disposals with two goals.ย  I wonder whatever became of him.

I would have a guess it's to do with the number of fans who will watch.

The so called big clubs would be well represented at another guess.

I think he went on to coach a team dwindling away at the bottom for 50 years that almost megered into irrelevance and got accused of underacheiving because the list he helped click were after that percieved to be too talented not to win 3 in a row

Adelaide semi-final was a great match to watch but, for mine, can't go past the Merger-Match final Round 1996 against Hawthorn.

Hawthorn needs to win to make the finals.
Both sets of fans turn up for possibly the last time.
Dunstall kicks 100.
Neitz almost dragging the Dees across the line.
1 point margin.
Leaving The G for what many believed was the last time.
ย

This game used to make the media's lists of greatest games, but seems to have dropped of the radar in recent years.ย

I was there too.ย

IIRC Ricciouto was sent forward in the last and it was he and a 50m+ bomb from Bryan Beinke (FFS),ย  that sunk us.ย

Neita oustanding that night & Robbo took some great marks but finished with 0.4, what might have been!ย

The stats are incredible. We only had 220 disposals for the match, scoring 118 points.

It's a completely different game now.ย ย

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
