Devastating.

Don't know what is worse, struggling to have kids or losing one.

My grandson is only 8 but is a dead set ringer of Jack in looks and obviously in the sporting world as well. It would be unfathomable the pain and trauma his parents, sisters, family and friends are suffering. sending strength and love to all involved. RIP Jack

Jack reminds me of my own son at the same age. Very sporty/well liked ... and a Demon.

My son is now 31, and hopefully he will well and truly outlive me. I have had the pleasure (mostly) of watching him grow into a fine young man. Jack and his family deserved the same.

I cannot begin to comprehend the pain that Jack's family must be feeling.

I think everyone, not just the family and those who knew Jack, is heartbroken. I am.

My thoughts are also with the other children who were injured.

Hi All

Probably a bit closer for me than most here - he played footy in the under 11s at Glen Iris Gladiators with my son. His dad is the team manager.

There has been 2 go fund me's set up - one with the money going directly to the Davey family to allow them as much time as possible for whatever they need and the other set up by the primary school for all the families involved - donate what you can spare to help

I'm so sorry.  I hope your boy is okay, as is the rest of his team.

Players were all in black armbands for Jack. I chatted to Edo after the game, she said the players were all devastated about the accident. The club has reached out to the family and offered support.

Our AFLW team wore black armbands today, in Jack’s memory.  💕💐

Just a heads up gang - his basketball team and footy team will be there tomorrow as part of the guard of honour for the teams entrance to the game and 2 younger sisters running out with the team. Tickets provided by MFC for family members of both teams.

Big congratulations to the the club for making this happen

When this thread first appeared I was earnestly sympathetic.

But now, at 30 weeks of bump and feeling heart-aching relief every time I get to feel new round of busy kicking and wriggling while my wife sleeps, I'm just beginning to get a glimpse.

One different thing I am sensing when insomnia take me circles just how utterly, utterly lonely that grief would be.

More than I ever thought, gestures like this matter and I'm really glad the club made the commitment.

Max is a true leader of the club with humility and compassion for others.

Well done to Max, Trac, the players and all at the Melbourne footy club. The family is part of the club. Supporters are connected. The loss of Jack 💔must have and still is devastating for the family. Hope they enjoy a good day at the footy

💙❤️

I reflect back to 2012 and the club was on its knees, was why I started my membership journey as a contribution lest we lose the club altogether. And in my member feedback surveys I’d comment we were irrelevant.

This makes me so proud - the club isn’t just sitting on its hands counting up the members, they’re an integral part of our community and giving back in spades. Relevance personified.

I hope the Davey family have a rare day in the sun and the boys play out of their skins for them. Well done MFC.

Such a devastating loss for the family. I have a boy similar age and I'm not sure I would cope for the rest of my life dealing with such pain.

Absolutely love that the club continues to support this family, it actually makes me tear up.

Cannot fathom the heart ache the Davey family would be going through, incredibly tragic and life changing. I’ve had tears just watching Max, it certainly puts life into perspective. Perhaps we should all just enjoy the day and the game together instead of being negative towards each other.

Well done ❤️💙

I cry simply reading this thread. I'm glad the club have made the Davey family feel loved and seen.

I can't imagine what it would be like having my boy taken away. Just tragic. RIP Jack.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
