Could we do 49 for Sharp, 60 and 66? Gives Brisbane another roughly 100pts

Or 49 for Sharp and 66, knowing 66 will come in substantially (10-15 places or so) when Brisbane, Essendon and GC match their academy picks?

Yeah, my initial reaction was that the Sharp deal could be 49 for Sharp & 66.

Gives Lions extra 200 points for Academy bids while leaves us with a third pick still.

Sharp effectively for pick 55 according to the calculators.

Love this. Really want us to get Sharp.

The deal could be MFC 49 for Sharp & BL 66.

As others have said, I hope we angle for pick 66 and Sharp for 49.

Pick 66 may end up coming in by 10-15 selections and give us a late stab in the draft.

Any news? Heard this was progressing quickly on Friday morning.  I guess the bombers and crows pick swapping has taken the priority

Sharp is the third player to potentially nominate the Dees now.

1st … Houston … did he really nominate us? Well the media said he did, so that’s a given. But he’s yes, no , yes has brought out other suitors and MFC off limits   🤮

2nd… Derksen… nominated MFC, Dees very keen and it helps his career, his financials and his family. GWS lost too many players and had poured concrete over Derksen. FFS. 🤨🤨

Hope we can do this deal. He’s the type of player needed and type of trade (22yo, 4 years in system) that can come in straight away and still improve and improve

Perhaps they weren't Sharp enough.

Razor sharp wit as always DS

If we're after a draftee that could cut the opposition to shreds, I'd be looking at young Wiltshire.

Do we have 49???

5, 9, 49, 83 (apparently)

Afl.com reporting we offered 49, Brisbane initially wanted more. Reckon it probably gets done but maybe nothing back our way

Ok, so, again: we will have as many ND picks as we need to fill the vacant slots in the list. ND83 ends up being like 71, ND104 ends up being 75 as clubs don’t utilise picks in the later rounds.

We will not be left without the ability to take late picks should we want to.

Some of you looking like sheep walking on their hind legs intimating the opposite.

If Brisbane demand more we could swap F3s. Brisbane should think that's in their favour.  Should be able to get done.

We already traded our future 3rd to Adelaide.

And got Essendon’s back, which is of similar value. Brisbane would back themselves to be 6-10 spots above Essendon next year, that’s a nice pick upgrade if we need to do it

Old mate Adam needs to stay on top of these pick trades.

“We're still working through that. They're working through what they require in terms of points with their academy players. We're hopeful of bringing Harry in."

- Tim Lamb on Harry Sharp

Lamb was really bullish on Sharp given he is a high end endurance footballer.  Holds the 2km combine time trial record 5m28secs by 20 seconds!!  Other comments addressed that Sharp can play wing or half forward, and fills a need given Nibblers departure and Hunter retirement.  He is a in a strong footy club but behind good players in Lions setup.  Lamb was hopeful.  I think pick 49 is fair (hope we can get Sharp and pick 66 back but it’s academic if Lions hold off). Lions working through their pick points accumulated to get Ashcroft & Marshall.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
