My point was finishing 8th on a team that finished 14th is hardly proof of any greatness or something to shut any haters up

Well, it hasn't shut you up!

Did any of the leaders, coach, pres etc address the Oliver situation at all or was it business as usual and nothing to c here.

The President, off the top, made a definitive statement about Clayton's whereabouts at the first bounce of the 2025 season.

Top 10 for the team that finished 14th is no great flex. How did it work out for Terlich when he finished top 3? Did  he become a future captain?

Finishing 8th in a team that had 16 Premiership players might be another way of looking at the result that doesn't belittle a bloke who showed commitment and development throughout the season.

I just watched goodys speech.

I found it:

A) a little defeated. Accepting of not returning to the ultimate goal, accepting we are declining.

B) Contradictory. He mentions not focusing on the result (a premiership), but getting pleasure out of the process. But then uses the example of Oscar McInervary. And although Oscar didn't get the premiership medallion the club did. So therefore the 'result' for the club is still indeed a premiership!

Did anyone else have similar thoughts?

You typify everything wrong with this club Wayne, still stuck in 2021 still clinging onto it when it has no relevance to how the team is performing in the now.  Who cares how many premiership players we have, where did we finish in 2024?

Agree.  He sounded like a bloke who needs a break, a recharge and a reset.

I didn't know that, thanks. Do you know if it was related to the Bullwinkle and co events/tragedy?

No it wasn't directly connected although considering Japan's run through south-east Asia you could say it's all connected.

Harold Ball was murdered along with three other medics who were trying to reach a battle group before the fall of Singapore, but were intercepted by some Japanese. I believe he was decapitated.

All MFC major trophies including also Sid Anderson, Bluey Truscott, Ron Barassi Snr are tributes to players who lost their lives as servicemen during WW2.

Process? No one wants to hear about the Labour, all we wanna see is the Baby.!

For me Goody's speech was a veiled message to Christian Petracca in particular about putting ego aside. I thought it was quite pointed in that sense and it reminded me of the quote from Gus Brayshaw about sacrifice that featured in Between The Flags: 'It's easy to sacrifice when we can tangibly see the results'.

Probably a message to the whole playing group but in particular Trac.

Here we have the scatter-gun Troll... Keep throwing up multiple accusations until someone takes the bait. I choose to ignore your pathetic attempt to claim higher ground. What I don't ignore is your unnecessarily smug attempt to denigrate the achievement of a top 10 B&F finish for one of our players.

If anyone is being smug its you, still bragging about 2021's flag for a team that finished 14th in 2024.

Gus Brayshaw you star, loved his speech. Also enjoyed Brad Greens address looking forward to the outcomes of the reviews although they should all be fully independent. Unfortunately not particularly inspired by Goodwins speech hopefully the players were.

Congratulations to all the award winners, especially Nibbler. Thanks for your service to our club and for the slice of humble pie that you gave me by stringing consistent years of football together with a club first mentality.

Brad Green sounded good & fired up & feels like he will be able to connect with the footy dept & players and supportive of the review .. let’s hope he follows through with the recommendations and his a president we hear fighting for the club in particular our draw which no doubt the afl will shaft us

I think the AFL’s way of shafting us from a fixture perspective will actually please our fans.

Plenty of Sunday 1:10 and Saturday 1:45 games next year will actually suit our supporter profile more than your night games that we essentially had for almost the entire second half of the season.

Absolutely. A bunch of us attended last night, driving up from beyond Geelong and were commenting how, due to location, sporting commitments for kids, other family commitments - prime time just doesn't suit us, and how we are really looking forward to some early afternoon fixtures, to actually take our kids along to expos them the sport live.

Success drives fan bases for sure... but also the ability to attend matches that isn't so Melbourne (city) centric, to bring the next generation along, and indoctrinate them to the red and blue.

It will definitely suit me. Means I can take the kids to more games

There are 9 premiership players on West Coasts list, 13 on Richmond's. Wonder if their supporters are flexing about the guy who finished 8th in their BNF this year too?

How was neal-bullens speech? I'm sure it wasn't awkward like the 2 Tiger players the other night.

Was Clint our MC?

Was reading about pies fans at there b&f and BT being awkward with Alex pendlebury.

You put so much emphasis on the number 14.   Whereas anyone who actually thinks beyond that crude number knows that the comp was very close this year and a few close losses and all the other reasons (you'd call them excuses I know) could have made that number considerably less.   Even less than 9.  But enjoy your misery while you can.

So the Umpires had Trac as clearly our best player yet he wasn’t in our top 10 for the BnF

different voting systems but still curious

Completely different voting systems. Trac played during the more successful first half of our season, snagging brownlow votes. Our BnF sees coaches awarding players a score out of 10 that are summed. This provides a much broader spread of votes, and also heavily penalises players that miss a lot of games.

Give it a rest. Kade Chandler has shown year on year improvement and from all reports is a great person and team-mate. He plays the most difficult role in footy, it's good to celebrate his achievement. It's you who is showing obsession.

What makes you think we were unlucky when we have shown for a while now that we are very good at losing the close games. Keep coping.

Everything ok mate?

A bloke just said well done to Kade for coming 8th and having a consistent season. He is underrated by many

Whats with the overreaction?

If you view Tom Campbell coming to club is a positive youre really struggling to name 3 things. Get excited about a VFL ruckman Dees fans!

No struggle at all.

Three positives about the arrival of Tom Campbell;

1. Post Jackson and Grundy departures we now have genuine back up ruckman/training partner for Max.

2. He won’t cost the earth and whilst resolvedly waiting in the wings will mentor young Verrall etc at VFL level.

3. As Tom’s neighbor @jayceebee31 and his wider reputation affirm. Tom Campbell brings more than just  his trade to the club.

Ben Brown’s contribution was rightly recognized and applauded last night at the B&F. It goes far beyond his on field exploits during the flag year. People of his ilk should be welcome additions to the MFC.
