As they should via our SHIZXEN LIST MANAGEMENT!

It's become a pretty boring sport when the Dees aren't winning tbh

Even the neutral game close finishes don't raise the heart rate like they used to, all the teams are a bit meh, don't care for any of them. And the prelim matchups and results are just groundhog day over and over for the large majority of the time. Euro 2024 was far more exciting

Agree, I switched over to the NRL, it’s a much better spectacle.

Im beginning to doubt the poster is even a Demons fan.

We know the story, Grundy didn’t work so we sent him packing, Jordon not best 22 so he left, fair enough

Can we move on? or say the same stuff every week

Same people probably said this about Steven Armstrong.

Swans had 10 better players last night than JJ and Grundy. But I agree they are pivotal to their overall team.  JJ as a tagger and Grundy in the ruck.  Grundy and Sweet broke even imv.  Butters & Rozee won the footy but didn’t lower than eyes kicking inside fwd50 (aka MFC style) so their impact was less.

I am absolutely killing it with my finals predictions.
The ONLY one that I have got right so far is Brisbane to beat Carlton two weeks ago.

Every single other one has been incorrect.

Hoping for Brisbane again tomorrow.

Almost guarantees a Geelong victory.

Please please please no

My take from last nights game is that whoever Sydney’s forward line coach is I hope we are right into them with a godfather offer. The amount of space and separation they create for their forwards, the running lanes they create for good high percentage looks at looks at goal on a very small ground is amazing. They are a very well structured forward line.

Well the sun is shining in Adelaide this morning and people seem happier. Life is good again.

We were the first team to inflict this against NM in 2000 with a 50 point PF win.

To be honest, I think the AFL has totally missed a trick and doesn't quite understand the secret sauce they had their hands on.

They've opened up the game, it's never been quicker or more skilful, but it's far less engaging to watch. Teams just march the ball down the field and the structures lead to so many over the back goals you may as well be watching a training run.

What made the sport so unmissable was the toughness, the tension, the unpredictability and haphazard-ness (if that's a word). Where it came down to crucial contests, high pressure, scrap and the will to win. Yes it's messy, but viewers respond to visible/visceral effort and commitment far more than kicking skills. The combo of that toughness/contest in a 360 degree game was very unique to our game.

There are still games and moments that fit this mould, but far less as the rules have encouraged teams towards the opposite style which is being set up to succeed.

Are you serious? They could well be premiership players after next week. Kindly identify your footy credentials re games played, premierships, coaching gravitas lightweight!

I thought Butters and Rozee were bog ordinary last night. Grundy was sensational in the Ruck. JJ was also very very good!

Would love him at the Dees

Ok, so Parker, a great player turns 32 next month.

Last night he played the Melky stopping role, having 8 possessions and no scoreboard impact, while his opponent wasn’t fantastic, but still had plenty of ball for a key defender.

If Parker came to us next year and wasn’t better than say Melky doing the same role, or couldn’t make our midfield and didn’t make the side, everyone would be blasting our List Management.

He has been a great player, but with age has slowed down and while he might have some good footy left, is he who you would be chasing, rather than a younger player who might not be getting opportunities, for a longer term benefit to us.

As a hypothetical if you could have say Parker, Kennedy, Parfitt or a Sheldrick type (younger mid not getting a game), for the same cost, who would you choose?

@picket fence“Grundy was sensational in the Ruck“   We must have watched a different game.  He just probably broke even with Sweet. Shaded for hitouts. Gave away 6 free kicks where Sweet was too strong for him.  Zero contested marks. Grundy was ok.

Why is today's game starting at 5:15? I get the afl are preparing us for a potential twilight gf, but surely 4:30 would work better

This finals series is feeling like what Hawthorn or Geelong supporters must feel when their team misses finals.....

Irrelevant !

It's remarkable how those who are ultra critical of many hard working, dedicated MFC employees become extremely sensitive to the slightest criticism of their point of view!

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
