Back in time Sydney wanted to replace Paul Roos as coach. The players staged a revolt. Paul Roos remained coach.

Simon Goodwin is popular with the players.

And a bloody good premiership winning coach...

Yes Joe has just been denied the right to run companies by Asic for 4 years

Not a good person to be taking advice from in my view

Why the [censored] would Green even entertain meeting Gutnik? What relationship would they have? So they have a private meeting and the first thing Gutnik does is go to the media. WTF. If this is seriously how the club operates no wonder we are in the [censored], seriously amateur hourimage.png.1c6e86a6d72963638d7a44992acd7098.png

The ONLY justification for Green meeting Gutnick, was if it was under the premise of donating money towards the new training facilities.

Otherwise there is no reason in the world he should have caught up with him, and given he's now run to the media to dish the dirt, it's time to block his number.

I don't know whether Gutnick has any money in his own name. I seem to recall he was made bankrupt and declared his only assets were the family home and a small bank account. I think his diamond company was insolvent too. That may have all changed now, although he has been banned from being a company director as well.

Agree - Brad, walk away and block his number!

Who is nearly past his use by date. Some of the footy this year was disgraceful and he is not teaching our youngsters the proper balance of the game. Contest/ defence is not the only way and outdated ( possibly more useful  in Finals) but you must aim to kick goals not just save them. )

I think you're overestimating just how much a head coach can do on gameday. It's not chess, he can't go out there and physically position the players to make sure they're in the right spots. It's also not NFL, where the gameplan can change play by play.

I'd be very interested to see what changes you think he could have made (outside of Petty for Jefferson, which isn't a matchday issue, nor is it purely Goodwin's decision)

Dr you are living in rut if you think that Simon can’t do what a Senior Coach is paid for.
we hat about his Assistants they are responsible aren’t they under a Simon’s influence and direction.
Yhankfully we have a new forward coach we hen he is chosen who I hope can understand how a forward line should operate.

Dimon this last season is still caught up with contest/defence and the offensive play of the forward line is vastly overlooked. What should have happened is that MJ could have net given a trial in the G coast game. AMW should have played looking to 2025 but Don says nothing changes. And that’s it.

Look at Sam Mitchell I can imagine how different he would have our list.

Uf you can’t see changes are necessary then we will make but during the year it st end of 2025’if Simon doesn’t see the light.

Great to see that Joe is still supporting the club.Has had his ups and downs even when president ,but probably if he never came to the rescue we would have joined Fitzroy as a part of footy history. Was a tragic day when he lost the presidency.

Just a few then, Smashed by West Coast, West Coast ????Continuation of Petty as a forward, refusal to send a hard tag on Horne Francis, Daicos, et all various selections blunders including selecting Brown for one game making him sub then dropping him, not putting more games into Moniz Wakefield, not selecting Jeffo vs Gold Coast ( ideal lead in game) and many others! Justa a few instances !

No and what difference would it make?

I was struggling to find a reason, like most on here, why Gutnick would approach Green, and why Green might meet with him, Elwood. I mean, as far as i know, Gutnick hasn’t approached any other president to give advice to. So why Green? I simply asked the question to see if there was maybe a “faith” link. Certainly nothing sinister in my mind. I’m sorry if my question offended you.

you are kidding, I doubt he is a member. Hasn't been heard of since he got booted out and all of a sudden he is a topline supporter. I reckon this is a set up.

A “set up” for what?

Mmm dunno about that. He coached the Lions for 3 seasons and won 14 of 66 games. He is well regarded as an assistant coach but it is so hard to assess assistants' ability as a senior coach.

A lot of people on here wanted Goodwin fired and Yze installed, yet look at Richmond. They are a rabble now, with no apparent game plan.

By the media just to stir up more controversy, media probably approached him to contact Green

I see him at many non Sabbath games (Thursday/Sunday/perhaps Saturday nights) in the Premium Members section with a couple other younger family members so unless he's being given tickets by the club then he is a paid up Premium Member.

A set up in the Herald Sun's dreadful campaign against the Melbourne Football Club dishonestly suggesting that there was a mutiny at the club based on a poll taken on line.

"Thousands of Melbourne fans have backed former president Joe Gutnick's call for the embattled club to sack coach Simon Goodwin."

The poll was open to the public and there's no evidence as to how many of the people who voted are Melbourne fans.

This is a disgraceful and dishonest set up against Simon Goodwin and a breach of journalistic ethics. The only person who deserves to get the sack is the person responsible for this outrage.

Feels like it's a no win for Brad, he did what he had to do.

If Joe asks to meet him for lunch and he declines Joseph eventually tells Robbo 'I have reached out to Brad to offer some assistance but he chose not to meet with me'

Instead Brad meets with Joe, no doubt to hear what he has to say and seek some benefits the other way and Joe tells Robbo, 'I have told Brad he should sack the coach, etc...'

Green probably accepted as a courtesy given Gutnik was President in the early part of Green's career.

Green seems a lovely bloke but not very 'street wise' particularly in the business world.  A bit naive perhaps.

It was fairly low for an ex-President to blab to the media and I have no idea why he would give Robbo a complete rundown of his own ideas.

Lots of people will come knocking on Green's door.  He would do well to heed these lessons.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.

  • PREGAME: Geelong

After a one-year reprieve, the Demons return down the freeway to Kardinia Park — the site of both one of our greatest triumphs and one of our darkest days — as they face the Cats under Friday night lights. This one could get ugly. Who comes in, and who comes out?
