In fairness, the club felt like a family 10 years ago when we were [censored]. Everyone was accessible. Now we are just bums/dollars in seats. The club couldn't care if we ain't there next year.

I'm trident, and my main complaint is the mcg has replaced our bar where we can view the game with a stupid fox tv studio they use for 4 minutes a game.

Disagree they do care !

That's not true

We are Demons Seats Plus Undercover in M55. I need the cover for my folks as they are older. Everyone in our area was so annoyed every game. We pay $580 a year, but we won’t again because we know that for the cost of a standard $200 or so membership we can rock up 90% of the time and sit wherever.

The club is very aware of all of our frustration, and have done absolutely nothing about it - which I understand is difficult, but if they aren’t protecting the value of our spend they are the ones who’ll miss out next year.

M55 isn't a Melbourne reserved bay. Do you mean M53 which was only added last year and only half the bay is reserved for Melbourne?

Last Thursday i paid the MCC/MFC dual Membership for next year.
It’s not cheap and with all the madness circling at the moment, i certainly thought about it for a while, but i pressed the “Pay Now” Button as i always do. $1,114.00

I am just wondering who else on here has done the same, are Members going to stick by us next year or will they keep the wallet closed

Roffey didn’t inspire me at all during the week, i heard the spiel live on air and once again later. Very underwhelming

The next 2-3 weeks are going to be pivotal for the club i believe. I hope the Members stick together (with a caveat!)

The MCC is getting ridiculously expensive is what I will say.

I sit in N53 and get annoyed at all the opposition supporters that fill our area as well but if our own supporters bothered to turn up there’s be no empty seats for them to sit in.

I'll be renewing my two Redleg memberships and hoping for more day games.

A delightful part of day games is a little 4 yo named Atticus whose seat is nearby.  Little Atticus and I hi-5 every goal and when we win (we always do when he goes) he stands on the seat and belts out A Grand Old Flag as loud as his little lungs allow.  All the while he is dancing just like in 'Happy Feet'.  He is a joy to behold.

This sounds adorable!  One of my favourite things when attending the footy is seeing how into it some kids are.  Their reactions can be so sweet or so funny!  (Of course, always better if they're a Dees fan, not that you can hold it against the poor brainwashed kids who are fans of other teams haha)

P.S. like the new avatar but almost didn't recognise you, Luci!

So you were the person sitting in N52 during the Giants game? It's a small world Moonie.

Yeah, little Atticus is special.  The little kids in my life are Pies supporters or Bulldogs ... shame.

Glad you like the new pic of 'my boy'.  Thought it was time for a McVee update.  I love the new pic; he is in full flight and moves so gracefully.

I can assure you it is. I was an mfc future fund member, where for $150 or so I'd get a few functions a year and meet some players. That doesn't exist these days. Want to join a function? Pay $300 for one presidents lunch.....

Yes. Doesn’t change the fact I pay for something that has literally no value.

$875 really isn't that bad when you consider what you get and the facilities you have access to etc. Full AFL membership is $680 and we have to pay additional booking fees to reserve seats for most big games now, for finals and still have to pay a couple of hundred for a GF ticket if you're lucky to get one! Overall, MCC seems like a bargain in comparison.

If that's me in N53 it must be a final as there's actually Melbourne supporters in some of the other seats.

Your overlying statement is that MFC  do not care for their members.

I resent that and if our crowds fall or membership lessens then they will have to be creative and caring to maintain this pert of the club.

There will always be a small number of instances where some decisions don’t favour some members.

But that doesn’t mean MFC don’t care. Also ring or write to the Club about it.

Pay up my membership, month by month, every year.  And now I'm paying for Watch AFL too, being the only way I get to see games.  Last time I didn't pay up was when the club shafted Woe (sr), which is a while back now!

I have seats in N49 and quite often when I get there, there are other club's supporters sitting in my seats. I usually ask them to move, and they do, but one time they responded with "can you sit somewhere else?"

The ground attendants are supposed to check tickets before allowing someone to sit there, but they don't always do it. Plus, a lot of attendees of the President's Lunch just move along the seats and sit where the best view is.

As a one off, my wife and I attended the MCC/MFC function in the MCC Committe Room in July (Essendon game). We enjoyed the result, the meal and the company. However, when it came to taking up our reserved seats in that section, we got the same response - word for word. Not knowing my wife, they didn't appreciate the danger they immediately put themselves in!

The couple next to us (friends of the mover) didn't appreciate our insistance and admitted their seats were further down, but they simply moved up in case it rained. They stated they often ignored the reserved seats and sat where they liked.

We agreed to disagree.

On hold for 16 minutes and counting to renew my membership..... Its gone up in $ but the service keeps getting worse.

So the club has sent out membership renewals for 2025, yet haven't updated their website to reflect available options. No one is answering the membership line. Amateur hour.

Until I was about 35, I was an MCC member. Yes, I'm one of the (rare) crazies who stopped renewing my MCC membership - no regrets. I got great value out of it for many years, but stopped going to cricket and found that the popular AFL games required getting there really early etc. I'd rather someone else had it.

So I then switched to MFC membership, which I've had for about 15 years. Due to financial issues this year (and recently moving to the country) I cancelled our premium seats and got a KAYO Dees membership, does that count?

I'll get back on the train for next season, but one of the lesser memberships, 3-game or whatever the next one is. Still living in country and a little heartbroken over what's happened after what happened and happened before that. But still have hope.

I answered that your assertion that  the Club does  not care is not true.
I am certainly not questioning your accuracy or truth about the seats etc details.

Seen quite a few comments online from various clubs, all seem to be complaining about rising costs with little return. Wonder what the solution is as we're stuck in a cost of living crisis.

Why not get auto renew saves any angst.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
