Fantastic work by the club if this gets done. Genuinely could become a top 5 player in the comp imo.

He is already and mentor to boot.

9 years all up, and not playing for Port?

Kane Cornes will love this...

when or if butters signs on for another 7 years at port which he probably wont at this point kane will forget that narrative completely

Does Goody have to sign for 7 years as part of the deal?

I’d like it to happen just to see Kane Cornes head explode.

Stmj.

Great to have you back Steve.

Very very big money.

Am I the only one who finds this a bit strange with 2 years to run?

If the last contract didn't stop the speculation then why is this different?

I believe he's worth it but it's hardly no brainer.

Think the price is worth paying just to shut up that flagmantle facebook page.

Yeah, that's probably worth the price of admission alone

gives him guaranteed certainty about his future until his career has finished, and until his eldest child is about to finish primary school

it won't stop the speculation but - like the trac and claz contracts - gives us some degree of control over the conversation

It gives us 7 more years to refuse to trade him. It's very simple.

Kosi has also seen that in the last 5 years, we have always gone out of our way to accommodate his desire to spend extra time at home. I am sure there are clauses in this new contract that allow for that to continue to happen (eg- spend extra time in WA doing his own program in the off season etc)

Besides, these types of players demand these types of deals. You think Freo isn't luring him with a 7 year deal?

He isn't going to walk out and go to Freo for a hug and some slippers. He might be homesick, but he's not silly.

I wonder how much of the welfare\community support would be baked into the contract to make him feel comfortable and supported. I am sure the MFC would basically accept any terms that mean kozzie is a career long demon

You make the deal for sure but it's hardly a banker. I'd also want to be paying that kind of money to someone who wants to be here.

I do think Freo would offer a 7 year deal because you usually pay overs to attract players. I also know that history isn't littered with good examples of big money long term deals to keep stars at clubs. Wasn't that long ago that we decided to inherit someone else's mess in that area.

I think it would be a positive move, I'd like to see some money spent on glaring areas of the park and after lacking cutting edge yesterday it's very clear that Kozzie can't carry this forward line even on a million a year.

But yeah, probably dumb not to sign him.

Big Fella, Big Fella, Big Fella........I knew you'd be back. Bring your A game, it's getting pretty wild around here.

Pickett almost certain to sign per Ryan Daniels.

I've seen the three best players to pull on boots in the last seventy years Baldock, Jesaulenko and Flower and he is better than all of them

Just bearing in mind he is actually playing in todays conditions.

That roving running goal late in the game was much more difficult than it looked. Sprinting hard at the boundary about 35m out, and he's just snapped it across his body.

He's just incredible to watch

Love having my namesake Aaron Davey back at the footy club of late. Done some amazing things for Cairns Lions as a coach and even took them to a flag of recent.

Had a mate from Melbourne who played in that Cairns Lions flag a couple of years ago, could not speak highly enough of Flash.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
